Slime Rancher: Gold Slime Guide - How to Get Gold Plorts

Learn how Gold Slime works and how to get its Plots in Slime Rancher.

Gold Slimes are the most elusive slimes in Slime Rancher. If you’ve seen a Gold Slime, you likely had trouble sucking them up with your Vacpack. That’s because Gold Slimes work a bit differently than other slimes in the game. In fact, they are probably the most valuable slimes in the game based on how much Newbucks you can get for their Plorts. This guide will explain how Gold Slime works in Slime Rancher and how to make them drop their precious Gold Plorts.

Can Gold Slime Be Captured?

The short answer is no. Gold Slime in Slime Rancher cannot be caught or captured with a Vackpack. However, they still can be harvested for their Plorts if you know the trick to getting them.

How to Get Gold Plorts

Like Lucky Slimes, Gold Slimes spawn randomly in the wild. In order to get Gold Plorts from them, you must find a Gold Slime in the wild and shoot any items you have at the Gold Slime. Fruits, meat, and most other resources you have on hand will do the trick.  The only items that won’t work are Water, Chickadoos, and other slimes. Shooting items at the Gold Slime will cause it to drop Gold Plorts and other resources, which can then be captured with your Vacpack.

While this may sound simple, the hard part is trying to shoot at the Gold Slime before it flees. Gold Slimes will quickly run away when you approach them, so you need to act fast when you spot one in the wild. Gold Slimes and their Plorts are also extremely rare, which makes them a very valuable resource.

Gold Plorts cannot be combined to create hybrid Largos. However, Gold Gordo Slimes can be lured using Gilded Ginger (see below). Gold Plorts can be sold, though, getting you anywhere between 100 to 650 Newbucks when sold at the Plort Market, making them the most valuable of all the Plort types. Getting three Gold Plorts from the same Gold Slime will unlock the Hat Trick Achievement, but even if you only get one Gold Plort for your efforts, it’s well worth it.

Gilded Ginger for Gold Slime

Thanks to the recent Navigation Update, Slime Rancher now features a new rare veggie called Gilded Ginger. Not only is Gilded Ginger the new favorite food of Gold Slimes, it is the only food that Gold Slimes eat. Feeding Gilded Ginger to a Gold Slime will These plants are found growing randomly in the Glass Desert, usually growing alone in small rock formations or grass.

Gilded Ginger is extremely rare and cannot be grown in a garden. Only one Gilded Ginger can be found in the Glass Desert each day, and its location will be different each time. While some players claim that Gilded Ginger grows in specific locations in the Glass Desert, these veggies are still generally considered to spawn randomly.

Gilded Ginger can also be used to obtain Gold Gordo Slimes. To do this, you will need the Master Gordo Snare, which is acquired by reaching Rank 20 in the 7Zee Rewards Club. Novice and Advanced Gordo Snares will not guarantee a Gold Gordo, so it's best to stick with the Master Gordo Snare for the most reliable results. Apply the ginger to the snare to attract a Gold Gordo. Feeding the Gold Gordo three (3) Gilded Gingers should cause it to pop, dropping plorts and other valuable items.

To maximize your Gold Plort earnings, the Golden Sureshot Vacpack upgrade can be acquired from the 7Zee rewards club to triple the amount of Gold Plorts that drop from shooting a Gold Slime. However, this requires you to earn Rank 22 in the rewards club, which is no easy feat.

Now that you know how Gold Slime works in Slime Rancher, you should be prepared to harvest some Gold Plorts next time you encounter a Gold Slime in the wild. Want to learn more? Read this: Slime Rancher - How to Get Slime Keys
