Legendary Pokemon Lugia and Articuno Arrive in Pokemon GO

Lugia and Articuno are the first Legendary Pokémon in Pokémon GO.

The first Legendary Pokémon have finally made their way to Pokémon GO. Thanks to the events of the Pokémon GO Fest in Chicago this past weekend, Trainers around the world can now look forward to battling and catching Articuno and Lugia in Pokémon GO.

Legendary Pokémon are the rarest monsters in Pokémon GO, and fans have been eagerly anticipating their arrival following the game’s recent Gym update. The update added Raids to Pokémon GO, which we now know to be the primary method for catching Legendary Pokémon

Lugia and Articuno are now available in Raid Battles worldwide in Pokémon GO as a result of this weekend’s festivities. As an added bonus, players will also receive various in-game rewards until 5 p.m. PDT on July 24th. Niantic ensures players that "Legendary Pokémon Zapdos and Moltres will also make their way into the real world soon." Check out the video below for a preview of Articuno in Pokémon GO.

Prior to the Pokémon GO Fest event, Niantic had promised to unleash the first Legendary Pokémon to the public if certain event challenge requirements were met. However, the Pokémon GO Fest event was marred by connectivity issues that made the game unplayable for many attendees.

To make up for the technical difficulties that event goers faced, Niantic announced that all registered festival attendees would have the Legendary Pokémon Lugia added to their account, along with $100 worth of PokéCoins and a full ticket refund.

Let us know in the comments below if you’ve caught your own Lugia or Articuno in Pokémon GO!
