Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court - How to Get a Courtyard Invitation

To get a Courtyard Invitation in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court, you'll need to find and kill the Gatekeeper.

In order to gain access to The Courtyard, you’ll need to know how to get a Courtyard Invitation. The first time you enter The Courtyard, you won’t need a Courtyard Invitation. However, every visit after you complete the first mission in The Courtyard will require you to have a Courtyard Invitation on hand.

Without this Courtyard Invitation, you’ll be unable to launch a new mission. So, how do you get a Courtyard Invitation in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court? Well, you’ll need to track down and defeat one particular enemy using the steps outlined below.

  • Once you complete the first mission in The Courtyard, the location will be locked, with future visits requiring a Courtyard Invitation to gain access.
  • Completing the first Courtyard mission will also spawn an infestation of vampiric insects in other dungeons. This infestation level will increase with each dungeon run you complete.
  • After a dungeon reaches its max infestation level, a special enemy called the “Gatekeeper” will spawn.
  • In order to get a Courtyard Invitation, you’ll need to kill the Gatekeeper and loot them.

That’s all there is to it. Proceed through various dungeons, and as the infestation level increases, wait for the Gatekeeper to spawn. By killing the Gatekeeper, you’ll be able to loot his body and get a Courtyard Invitation.

Because of how rare Courtyard Invitations are, you’ll want to hold onto them, and ensure you’re prepared before venturing into The Courtyard. This is because some areas in The Courtyard have more than 100 different rooms to get through! So, be sure to use your Courtyard Invitations wisely in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court DLC.

By reading through this guide, you should now know how to get a Courtyard Invitation in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court.
