Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court - How to Defeat All Bosses

A look at how to defeat all five bosses in Darkest Dungeon’s latest DLC, The Crimson Court.

If you’ve been playing through Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court, you may find yourself wondering how to defeat all of the DLC’s new bosses. When it comes to The Crimson Court, there are five bosses in total that you need to worry about. While some may be relatively simple to defeat, others require a bit more patience and calculation.

To help you out, we’ve put together a guide on how to defeat all five bosses in the latest Darkest Dungeon DLC, The Crimson Court.

Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court - How to Defeat the Crocodilian

To defeat the Crocodilian in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court, ignore the vegetation and focus on Stun and Bleed attacks.

We’ve briefly mentioned how to defeat the Crocodilian in our beginner’s guide for Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court. However, it’s worth going over again, as the Crocodilian is typically the first boss you encounter. Before we dive into the strategies needed to defeat the Crocodilian in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court, let’s take a quick look at his stats.

  • HP: 108
  • Stun Resist: 50%
  • Blight Resist: 80%
  • Bleed Resist: 50%
  • Debuff Resist: 75%
  • Move Resist: 35%

With these stats in mind, it’s time to figure out the best method of taking him down. The Crocodilian will begin in the 4th position with high HP vegetation occupying the first three spots. There’s no point in attacking or trying to move this vegetation. It’s placed there to throw you off and make the Crocodilian harder to defeat. As such, our recommendation is to ignore the three vegetation spots entirely.

Prior to engaging the Crocodilian, make sure you have trinkets that buff your Dodge abilities, as the primary goal when fighting the Crocodilian is to avoid his attacks, which deal a significant amount of damage. Note that the Crocodilian has low Stun and Bleed resist, meaning the use of Stuns is highly recommended in order to deal as much damage to the Crocodilian before he submerges to heal himself.

After that, using characters with Bleed damage will help you whittle down his HP. Another tactic we recommend is putting together a party of heroes capable of attacking all four positions. This is because the Crocodilian is able to move between the back and front rows, and can also move around your party members.

Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court - How to Defeat the Viscount

To defeat the Viscount in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court, have a party capable of attacking all 4 positions.

Defeating the Viscount in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court is quite simple. Although, before we dive into the strategies needed to defeat the Viscount in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court, let’s take a quick look at his stats.

  • HP: 127
  • Stun Resist: 55%
  • Blight Resist: 95%
  • Bleed Resist: 70%
  • Debuff Resist: 70%
  • Move Resist: 95%

The Viscount has a relatively low amount of HP, though it’s still the second highest of the five bosses in The Crimson Court. When trying to defeat the Viscount, you’ll want to keep an eye out for the Mercurial Salve trinket, as it will increase the damage you deal to bloodsuckers (like the Viscount) by a high margin.

By using this trinket, you should be able to defeat the Viscount pretty quickly. If you don’t have the Mercurial Salve trinket, you can utilize any other trinket or ability that increases your damage while keeping the use of bloodlust in mind.

Similar to other bosses, the Viscount is able to move between positions. Because of this, you’ll want to create a party of heroes capable of attacking all 4 positions. Other things to keep in mind when creating your party is having heroes with high Bleed, Stun, and Riposte in order to successfully defeat the Viscount.

Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court - How to Defeat the Countess

The Countess is one of the hardest bosses to defeat in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court thanks to her high HP and resistances.

The Countess is the toughest boss in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court aside from the Baron. Not only does she have the highest HP of all five bosses, but she’s also able to resist just about everything you throw her way. Before we dive into the strategies needed to defeat the Countess in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court, let’s take a quick look at her stats.

  • HP: 400
  • Stun Resist: 140%
  • Blight Resist: 119%
  • Bleed Resist: 90%
  • Debuff Resist: 120%
  • Move Resist: 220%

The Countess deals high damage through her group attacks, so having heroes with decent Dodge abilities can be a useful tactic. Additionally, using the Bolster skill can also give you room to avoid her group attacks. Because her Bleed resist is the lowest, you’ll want to use party members with Bleed capabilities.

Simply apply Bleed whenever it wears off, or use the Flagellant class, which we’ve covered in a previous Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court guide. In fact, aside from a team of Man-At-Arms coupled with a Graverobber, having the Flagellant on hand is one of the best ways to defeat the Countess in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court.

Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court - How to Defeat the Fanatic

While trying to defeat the Fanatic in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court, he'll take one of your heroes and throw them on a pyre.

When facing the Fanatic in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court, it’s important to make note of his three upgrades in stats. Before we dive into the strategies needed to defeat the Fanatic in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court, let’s take a quick look at his stats during the first encounter.

  • HP: 119
  • Stun Resist: 45%
  • Blight Resist: 80%
  • Bleed Resist: 45%
  • Debuff Resist: 35%
  • Move Resist: 55%

The Fanatic is a boss that wanders throughout The Crimson Court, and has a slight chance of appearing whenever you enter a dungeon with cursed heroes in your party. The more cursed heroes you have in your party, the higher the chance of encountering the Fanatic. Prior to fighting the Fanatic, an intro screen will appear.

After the intro screen, the Fanatic will begin the battle by taking one of your heroes and place them on a pyre. There, the hero will take continuous damage each round. Even if you’re able to free the hero from the pyre, the Fanatic will simply place another hero into the pyre. So, keep in mind that you only have three heroes available to help you defeat the Fanatic, rather than four.

The best way to combat the Fanatic is to work around having only three moves each turn. Again, using heroes with Bleed capabilities will prove extremely effective when trying to defeat the Fanatic. Heroes including the Flagellant, Jester, Hound Master, and Hellion are recommended as they’re able to inflict Bleed while also attacking from different positions.

Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court - How to Defeat the Baron

The Baron is the final boss you'll have to defeat in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court.

The Baron is one of the final bosses you’ll have to defeat in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court. As you fight, you’ll notice the Baron likes to hide inside a pulsating egg, which forces you to seek him out by hitting every position (he’s a bit of a pain). Before we dive into the strategies needed to defeat the Baron in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court, let’s take a quick look at his stats during the first encounter.

  • HP: 233
  • Stun Resist: 87%
  • Blight Resist: 85%
  • Bleed Resist: 55%
  • Debuff Resist: 60%
  • Move Resist: 85%

As the final fight in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court, we recommend bringing various buffs and having blood on hand for your cursed party members. As for who to bring in your party, two of the best suggestions are the Man-At-Arms thanks to his Bolster skill, and the Houndmaster thanks to his Guard Dog skill. Each of these skills will enable you to avoid taking damage from the Baron.

Another party member to consider when trying to defeat the Baron in Darkest Dungeon: The Crimson Court is the Occultist. By keeping your Occultists in the back row, you can use his Vulnerability Hex to hit any position and thus reveal the Baron from his egg. Then, you can use your Marking skills on the Baron, before proceeding to lower his defenses.

Like most bosses in The Crimson Court, the Baron is vulnerable to Bleed attacks. Because of this, you’ll want to have your cursed characters in bloodlust mode in order to deal solid damage to the Baron. Other than that, continue to use Marking skills to keep tabs on the Baron, give your cursed characters blood, and keep whittling away at him little by little.
