All Hollow Knight Endings and How to Get Them

All of the Hollow Knight endings, what they mean, and how to get them.

Hollow Knight is a Metroidvania game that features multiple endings and because of this, many players have been curious about how many there are and what they have to do to unlock them. There is a total of 3 endings and one post-credits scene. Before continuing, we must first warn you that this article will contain spoilers so keep that in mind when proceeding from this point forward.

First Ending: The Hollow Knight

This is the easiest ending to achieve which you can initiate after killing all 3 of the Dreamers and heading to the Temple of the Black Egg. There you will find the Hollow Knight and engage in your last boss battle. When you defeat him, you’ll take his place as the new Hollow Knight and continue the cycle.

Bad Ending: Sealed Siblings

This is the bad ending in Hollow Knight which can only occur once you’ve killed all 3 Dreamers and obtained the charm called Void Heart. Head to the Temple of the Black Egg where you’ll find Hornet and fight the Hollow Knight.

During your battle, Hornet will join in and manage to apprehend the Hollow Knight. When this happens, don’t use your Dream Nail to enter his dreams, instead, continue with your regular attacks. Once you defeat him, you will become the new Hollow Knight and Hornet will be sealed away with you. This effectively ends the Hollow Knight cycle but allows for the infection to take over.

True Ending: Dream No More

This is the good ending to Hollow Knight which is obtained the same way you reach Sealed Siblings. You must first defeat all the Dreamers and collect Void Heart. When you are battling the Hollow Knight, Hornet will tie him down and this time, use your Dream Nail to unleash the Radiance which is a boss battle that lasts 3 challenging rounds. Once you defeat the Radiance, the infection will disappear and the Hollow Knights can finally rest.

Post-Credits Scene: Passing of the Age

The Passing of the Age achievement can only be obtained once you’ve equipped the Spore Shroom charm. This allows you to talk to Mr. Mushroom which you will have to find at 7 various locations in Hollow Knight. Once you’ve done this, you can beat the game and the post-credits scene will show Mr. Mushroom flying by overhead right before revealing a TO BE CONTINUED screen.

Let us know in the comments which Hollow Knight endings you got and what you think of Mr. Mushroom's post-credits scene! Do you think a continuation is in the works? We sure hope so. For more on Hollow Knight,  find out where you can find Pale Ore and try these moves to beat the Mantis Lords.
