How to Get Umbreon and Espeon in Pokémon GO

The newest Pokémon GO update introduced two new evolutions of Eevee.

When Pokémon GO released last July, many players were quick to notice a trick where you could evolve Eevee into a specific evolution using names from the TV show. These names included Rainer for Vaporeon, Sparky for Jolteon, and Pyro for Flareon.

With the release of Pokémon GO’s latest Generation 2 update, two new Eevee evolutions are up for grabs including Umbreon and Espeon. Below, we’ll teach you how to evolve Eevee into either Umbreon or Espeon in Pokémon GO.

How to Evolve Eevee into Umbreon

  • First, capture an Eevee if you don’t currently have one in your Pokémon GO inventory.
  • Next, make sure you have enough Candy to evolve Eevee. You will need 25 Candy to evolve Eevee, if you don’t have 25 Candy, you can either catch more in the wild or transfer extra copies of Eevee in your inventory.
  • Once you have 25 Candy, find Eevee in your inventory and click on the pencil to the right of Eevee’s name.
  • Change Eevee's name to Tamao and click the Evolve button. After Eevee is done evolving, you should now have an Umbreon in your Pokémon GO inventory.
