Ark Survival Evolved: How To Tame A Wyvern

With the launch of Ark's Scorched Earth DLC, many players are wondering how to tame the majestic Wyvern.

In the Scorched Earth DLC of Ark Survival Evolved, there is an abundance of new mystical creatures, and one of them is the Wyvern. Survivors looking to tame one of these majestic creatures will be disappointed to find out that wild, mature Wyverns are untamable. All hope is not lost however, and with a bit of work, you can have your very own Wyvern to ride through the skies. Read on to learn how to tame a Wyvern in Ark: Survival Evolved.

How to Tame a Wyvern

Taming a Wyvern involves a couple of different stages of work that'll see you raise your own creature from babe to beast. It's not too difficult to manage overall, but to kick things off you'll first need to get yourself a Wyvern Egg.

Where To Find Wyvern Eggs

In order to find Wyvern eggs, you’re going to have to travel by air since the nests are located in caves within The World Scar. The Argentavis is recommended for this trip because of its stamina and speed.

The area you’ll be traveling to is located in a ravine between the far west mountains and sandy dunes of Scorched Earth. Upon further exploration of the ravine, you’ll find various caves decorated with what looks like large crystal shards, and a flowing river of molten lava at the bottom. Some of these caves will have a Wyvern nest with an egg. Only attempt to land on an unoccupied nest with an egg because if Momma Wyvern sees you take the egg, she will follow you and relentlessly attack. Each egg has a weight value of 50.0 so take that into consideration before heading to the caves.

How To Hatch Wyvern Eggs

Once you’ve brought back the Wyvern egg to your settlement, you’re going to have to incubate it. Hatching a Wyvern egg requires a consistently high temperature of 80-90 celsius, so items such as air conditioners, campfires, and torches can be used to achieve this. Some players have also recommended placing the egg inside of a house with a few fireplaces because maintaining the temperature this way is much easier. The hatching process can take quite a long time (about 5 hours if done correctly) so make sure you’re prepared with fuel for the fire if that’s the method you decide on.

How To Feed, Raise and Imprint Baby Wyverns

Once you’ve hatched your egg, you’ll now have to feed, raise, and imprint your baby Wyvern. During the Wyvern’s time as a baby, juvenile and adolescent, the only food it’ll consume is Wyvern milk. This can only be obtained from a wild female or Alpha Wyvern. To collect the milk, you’ll have to knock out or kill the aforementioned Wyvern. Once unconscious, access its inventory and collect the milk. Unconscious Wyverns recover rather quickly so be fast and efficient with this process.

Imprinting happens naturally as you care for your Wyvern and feed it Wyvern milk. Feed your Wyvern only once the food bar begins to get low, otherwise you risk spoiling your milk. A preserve bin is recommended for storing any milk that you acquire. Monitor your baby Wyvern closely as you continue this process. It takes approximately 90-100 hours to raise a baby wyvern into an adult so make sure to prepare accordingly!

Catching, hatching, and raising a tamed Wyvern requires a lot of time and patience. We hope this guide was a great help to you and if you have any tips to contribute, let us know in the comments below.
