Niantic Confirms More Pokémon are Coming to Pokémon GO

Details will be revealed next week.

Earlier leaks and rumors suggested that a major update (which includes new catchable Pokémon) would be deployed for Pokémon GO on Thursday, December 8th (tomorrow) in collaboration with a special Starbucks promotion. However, developer Niantic has come out and clarified its upcoming plans for the addition of new Pocket Monsters.

Niantic will reveal details about new Pokémon in Pokémon GO on December 12th.

According to an official statement from Niantic, new Pokémon will be coming to Pokémon GO in the near future, but additional details on what those Pokémon are and when they’ll be added into the game won’t be disclosed until next Monday, December 12th:

"The Pokémon Company International and Niantic, Inc. will reveal details on December 12th about the first addition of more Pokémon to Pokémon GO, one of the most popular mobile games of the year. Stay tuned, Trainers!"

What this means for the planned collaboration between Niantic and Starbucks remains to be seen. It is possible that the leaked memo was an earlier draft and that the date for the planned event has since been updated, but we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to see.
