Sometimes Always Monsters Preview

In our preview, we take a look at how Sometimes Always Monsters puts your morality to the test.

Sometimes Always Monsters, developed by Vagabond Dog, is the sequel to the industry and consumer acclaimed indie title, Always Sometimes Monsters. The series tackles the pressures of life and love using situations that will test your morality. In our preview, we'll examine how the game uses a strong narrative and story driven format, similar to that of the game's predecessor, Always Sometimes Monsters, where you’ll be tasked with forming relationships, creating emotional connections, and making important life changing decisions as you figure out what it is that you truly want out of life.

While Always Sometimes Monsters tells the story of a down-and-out writer willing to do whatever it takes to win back the affections of their ex lover and make a name for themselves, Sometimes Always Monsters is a graduation from that. It's an intimate look at what it's like achieving small time success and the newfound difficulties that come along with it.

According to the developers, Sometimes Always Monsters will be a mirror image of the first game. Although it will have it’s own unique challenges and emotional journey, the approach in how you play will be relatively the same. Your interactions with others impact the outcome of the story, and for those who played through Always Sometimes Monsters, there’s continuity. This means your character and the results of your previous playthrough will follow you into the sequel.

This preview into Sometimes Always Monsters begins with life going exceptionally well for you. The love of your life back by your side and things are finally starting to look up for you. It’s important to note that because of this, your decisions will not only impact you but also your partner. Since you are now an author of a widely reknowned title, you'll soon realize that you need to find the inspiration for your next big hit. This spurs you to take a cross country tour with fellow writers.

With your career taking off, will you decide to bring your spouse along for the ride or will you try your hand at maintaining a long distance relationship? This is just a taste of what's to come and it's important to choose what feels right to you. Regardless of your decision, you'll be sure to find comradery on your new journey and your interactions with these newfound friends will also play into the equation.

Overall, Sometimes Always Monsters promises a new experience that puts your decision making to the test. It dares to look behind the curtain of our biggest dreams and reveals what it's like to succeed but still not quite be "successful". Most importantly, our preview into Sometimes Always Monsters poses the question, "how will this next chapter end"? And that my friend, is ultimately up to you. Check out Sometimes Always Monsters on Steam.
