Wii Shop shutting down in 2019

Wii'll miss you.

Nintendo has confirmed that the Wii Shop channel will be shutting down in 2019.

The closure is set for January 31, 2019, at which time Wii and Wii U users will no longer be able to purchase titles or applications from the consoles’ dedicated stores.

In the run up to this closure, from March 27, 2018 users will be unable to add Wii Points to their account as well.

Any previously purchased WiiWare or Virtual Console games will be re-downloadable during this time period, but these abilities will also cease before the final closing date too.

Of course the greatest tragedy of this loss will be never hearing this incredible music again. Treasure it while you can, friends. (Or this blingin’ remix
