Indie developer Hi-Rez Studios has announced that Paladins, its hero-based shooter that clearly takes some of its inspiration from Blizzard’s Overwatch, has transitioned into its open beta phase. This means that anyone with a gaming PC and a bit of free time can check it out.
Paladins is a competitive team-based shooter where players can play as a number of different hero characters who each have their own signature weapons and special attacks. Players can also unlock hero-specific cards that allow them to construct customized decks which can radically alter how a given hero functions. While Paladins is free-to-play (and thus requires players to unlock content like heroes and skins by either grinding in-game currency or paying real money), the Paladins Founder’s Pack (which grants access to all current and future champions along with other special goodies) can be purchased at a discounted price of $13.39 until September 30th (at which point it will revert to its standard $19.99 price point).
