7 Books That Need To Be Made Into Games - The Odyssey

Experiencing the realm of storytelling through a gaming perspective.

2. The Odyssey

Homer's literary masterpiece is well known, and its epic tale serves as the perfect backdrop for a game. None of the other game ideas on this list have sailing, but this game would dole out the sailing mechanic in spades. While we already have an excellent Greek-based game, God of War, we feel adding in another one wouldn't exactly hurt. After all, protagonist Odysseus is quite different from Kratos and both have very different motivations.

There would be plenty of insane creatures to fight, and obstacles to overcome as you try to guide poor Odysseus home to his wife. From taking down a giant Cyclops, visiting an enchanting island full of lovely women, and having the world (and a very pissed off Poseidon) against you makes this ripe game material. We're not sure why this hasn't been made yet, but if (and when) it ever happens we'll be the first ones to plunk our money down!
