Google is hosting their very first Indie Games Festival this year on September 24th in San Francisco, CA. The event will be held in San Francisco’s beautiful Terra Gallery, and over 30 indie games and their developers will be highlighted at the event.
In order to attend, Google asks that attendees register on the official Google Indie Festival Website. Registration is completely free, and we’re guessing Google simply wants to keep up with how many people are planning to attend this year to prevent going over the building's capacity. At the moment, Google’s registration states that the event is “full” which means quite a few gamers have rushed to sign up. Thankfully, you are still allowed to register and will be put on a waitlist.

If you’ve already registered and are indeed attending the event, the next step to think about is parking. If you live in the Northern California area and are somewhat familiar with the city, you’ll know the difficulties of driving into the city on the weekend. Traffic aside, if you’re planning to drive, we highly suggest locating a nearby parking garage (we used the website ParkingPanda) to ensure you’ll have a safe place to leave your car while you marvel at the indie games on display.
In addition, if you’re unfamiliar with the city taking a quick look at the directions online can be beneficial. The Terra Gallery is located at 511 Harrison Street in San Francisco, and if you're driving from the South Bay, taking the 101 North is usually your best bet. If you’re not planning on driving into the city, planning alternative modes of transportation early on can help save you time (such as taking the BART or ride-sharing with a friend).
The event opens at 9:45am (PST) and concludes at 4:45pm (PST), attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorites from the 30 games on display with the winners announced during a ceremony later in the afternoon. After the festival, you have plenty of time in the city to do a little sightseeing if you’re feeling up
