Mystery Game Virginia Gets A Free Demo

How you can try the game for free ahead of its September release.

Fans of cult-classic mystery shows like Twin Peaks, The X-Files, or Stranger Things have no doubt been following Virginia, the upcoming PC-exclusive mystery/adventure game from developer Variable State since it was first announced back in 2014. However, if you’ve never heard of it before now or if you just want a playable sneak peak, you can experience the game’s unique visuals and gameplay for yourself courtesy of a free demo.

Virginia is set in the sleepy town of Kingdom which is located in the game’s titular state of Virginia, USA. When a young boy mysteriously vanishes from his home in Kingdom, two FBI agents are called in to investigate. Stepping into the shoes of graduate FBI investigator Anne Tarver, players can explore the town of Kingdom from a first-person perspective, gathering clues, interviewing townsfolk, and working with Anne’s partner, seasoned agent Maria Halperin, as they work to find the young boy and uncover the town’s dark secrets in the process.

When it launches on September 22nd, Virginia will feature full controller support, Steam Achievements, and Steam Cloud integration. If you want to try it before you buy, you can download the demo from Virginia’s Steam page.
