Name That Horror Game Screenshot Quiz - Answers

Did you get them all right or were you too scared to continue?

1. Case: Animatronics

The first screenshot in our quiz was none other than Case: Animatronics. This terrifying game challenges you, playing as John Bishop, to be extra stealthy after a hacker locks you inside the police department after a long night of working late. Buy Case: Animatronics on Steam!

2. Emily Wants To Play

Number two is the nightmare-inducing game Emily Wants To Play. Oh Emily... we know you want to play, but we're not exactly up for it. We simply wanted to deliver our pizza and leave, but you don't seem to be too fond of pizza, or us for that matter. Buy Emily Wants To Play on Steam

3. Dreadhalls

Deck the halls with number three, Dreadhalls! There's a new trend in horror games lately, and that's taking the wonderful technology of VR and using it to scare the daylights out of you. Dreadhalls is a great example of this, where you awaken in a dim dungeon and have to find your way out... while avoiding whatever is in the dungeon with you. Check out Dreadhalls on VR

4. Boogeyman

Rather than a trailer for number four, Boogeyman, we decided watching the game in action will give you a better idea why the game is so scary. In Boogeyman, your childhood fears have been realized. In the game, you play as a little boy named Thomas who has just moved into a new house with his parents. Unfortunately, this house is anything but ordinary as Thomas realizes he's not alone in his new room. Buy Boogeyman on Steam

5. Lethe

Number five is... Lethe! This new horror title mixes elements of survival and exploration as you try to uncover the secrets of who you are. However, doing this may have been a bit of a mistake as you find out things you could have never imagined. Buy Lethe on Steam

6. Rides With Strangers

Number six, Rides With Strangers, hits a little too close to home at times. Growing up, did your parents ever warn you about the dangers of getting into cars with strangers? Ours certainly did, and this horror games shows the outcome of the worst possible outcome of hitchhiking. Each car that passes you could be your chance to get to your destination, and while many of them are probably kindly strangers, others have seriously sinister motives. Check out Rides With Strangers on Steam Greenlight

7. Layers Of Fear

Number seven, Layers of Fear, stars our favorite crazed painter who is on a quest to complete his masterpiece. We all have that one creation in our minds that we'd love to create, and in Layers of Fear, you realize just how far the main protagonist will go to accomplish this task. Tragic discoveries await him, but will they stop him from his goal or drive him further and further insane? Only you are capable of finding out. Buy Layers of Fear on Steam

8. Outlast 2

We apologize as number eight is both easy... and hard. You see, Outlast 2 isn't out yet although you will be able to get your hands on the game this fall. Yet many fans of the horror genre will undoubtedly know the original Outlast, in which you follow the misadventures of a reporter trapped in a mental asylum. With no way of defending himself, running and hiding are your best defense mechanisms in Outlast. Outlast 2 looks like it ramps up the horrific gameplay, and changes the locale dramatically. Keep track of Outlast 2 on Steam

9. F.E.A.R. 3

What is horror without the use of fear? We'll be honest with you, the F.E.A.R. series has its fair share of ups and downs when it comes to releases, and the third installment in the franchise was definitely not well-received. The first two games in the series are single-player experiences, ones you explore alone while stalked by one of the creepiest video game characters, Alma. In F.E.A.R. 3 you can play co-op, which many say detracted from the horror. But hey, we wanted to give you a challenge. Buy F.E.A.R. 3 on Steam!

10. Kholat

Last, but certainly not least, is Kholat. Narrated by the phenomenal actor Sean Bean, Kholat tells the chilling tale inspired by a real-life event entitled the Dyatlov Pass Incident. In the game, you will have to traverse the frigid Ural Mountains to unravel the mystery behind the tragic death of nine Russian hikers. Many theories abound, and after playing Kholat, you'll certainly be fascinated by the story yourself. We absolutely love Kholat, and recommend it highly. Buy Kholat on Steam!
