The Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom glider, also called the paraglider, is an invaluable item that’s necessary to explore Hyrule’s heights in comfort. It’ll also save you from falls when dropping out of the sky.

To get the glider in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you need to complete the first few stages of the main quest after landing on the ground. Once you’d jumped off the Great Sky Island for the first time and landed in Hyrule, you’ll be directed toward Lookout Landing, an encampment close to Hyrule Castle. You won’t have any details on your map yet, but it’ll still show up as a yellow objective dot.

Head there and speak with Purah in the tower topped by a telescope. Purah will tell you to go to Hyrule Castle itself and meet Hoz, the captain of the guard. Leave Lookout Landing and travel north to the castle (stopping to complete the Shrine along the way if you want).

Follow the Castle’s main pathway until you reach a large gatehouse. Up on top of this you’ll find Hoz and some of his team inspecting the castle. Speak with him and Link will explain everything that has happened before a short cutscene takes place. You’ll then be directed to go back to Lookout Landing and speak with Purah.

Return down from the Castle and find Purah just outside the entrance to the telescope building. She’ll tell you that she’s going to work on the camp’s Skyview Tower, starting the Crisis at Hyrule Castle Main Quest. Head over to the Skyview Tower – it’s the tallest building in the camp – when ready and speak with Purah.

Here, Purah will enlist you for a test of the Skyview Tower. A test that will require you to get the glider in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom! Take it off her, investigate the platform and be ready for a high time.

Once you’ve helped Purah with the tower, you’ll have unlocked the glider for good. This mission is doubly important to complete early as it’ll fill in your local map area and open up access to the Skyview Towers dotting the rest of Hyrule. So now that you know, go get the glider in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and start sailing through the skies!
