The Mario Kart 8 Booster Course tracks we'd love in the final waves

With just two waves to come, here are the courses we want from the Mario Kart 8: Deluxe Booster Course Pass.

The Mario Kart 8: Deluxe Booster Course Pass is bloody brilliant. And with the recently released Wave 4 finally acknowledging the existence of Double Dash, it got us thinking. Where else could we be burning rubber? Two waves remain, and a whole lot of Mario Kart history and potential remains untapped in MK8. Here are the Mario Kart courses we’d like to see in the final two waves (and 16 tracks) of the Booster Course pass.

Dino Dino Jungle (Double Dash!!)

It felt like the the Gamecube’s kart racer was going to go unacknowledged in the Booster Course Pass, but with Birdo and Waluigi Stadium, Wave 4 has blown the gates wide open. Dino Dino Jungle is easily the level most ripe for an MK8 remake, with lush environments and rickety bridges that are perfect for a gravity-defying shuffle. Make it happen, Nintendo.

Luigi’s Raceway (64)

Luigi’s Raceway is far from the most exciting course to pull out of Mario Kart’s archives. But if you’re looking for an easier level with loads of room for revision, Luigi’s underloved loop awaits. Give it the Mario Kart Stadium or Circuit treatment with new ramps and anti-grav sectors for a fresh take on a classic.

New Donk City (New)

We’ve had a few new levels slip into the Booster Course Pass, and it’s about time Odyssey’s New Donk City got some love. Imagine tearing through the streets, up scaffolding, and over rooftops, all while Pauline’s band plays? Glorious. It made it into Mario Golf: Super Rush, so let's get it in Mario Kart as well. We've had New York Minute, but New Donk is the chance to build a proper track that makes use of anti-grav to scale the city in style.

DK Mountain (Double Dash!!)

Mario Kart 8 already has plenty of DK action, but Double Dash’s bouncy tumble down the mountainside remains an exhilarating option. If it happens, we just hope that the sneaky powersliding shortcuts toward the end remain in place.

Airship Fortress (Mario Kart DS)

Easily one of Mario Kart DS’ most imposing levels, Airship Fortress kicks off with you driving directly into incoming Bullet Bill fire. It made an appearance in Mario Kart 7 and Tour, but we’d love to see it secure a place in the best installment of the series.

Daisy Cruiser (Double Dash)

Another level which returned in both MK7 and Tour was Daisy Cruiser. An inventive loop around a super-yacht, it features entertainingly unique hazards like a swimming pool and sliding dinner tables. Yes please!

Koopa Troopa Beach (64)

Many of Mario Kart 64’s courses have already been reborn in MK8, but we’ve always got time for a soothing tour around the coves of Koopa Troopa beach. Having already appeared in MK7 and Tour, it’s an easy conversion, but we’d love to see more fun had with the shortcut potential here.

Shy Guy Bazaar (MK7)

If one older level could really benefit from the Switch’s extra power, it’s Shy Guy Bazaar. This Mario Kart 7 level had a great concept, but the market stalls and streets were disappointingly bare. A remake could pack the level full of bustling Shy Guys hawking their wares and cheering on the competition.

A Metroid-inspired level (New)

We’ve had F-Zero, Zelda, and Animal Crossing. Now it’s Samus’ turn. Sneaking a Space Pirate station or tour of well-known planets into the final Wave would pair up perfectly with an update on the development of Metroid Prime 4. Are we suggesting it just because we want to know MP4 still exists? Maybe, but we’d also like to tear around Mario Kart 8 in a kart version of Samus’ ship.

Bowser’s Castle (All of them)

We can’t think of a better way to bring some challenge to the end of Mario Kart 8: Deluxe’s DLC run than a Bowser’s Castle gauntlet. We’ve already got enough Rainbow Roads. Put our skills on the track to the test with back-to-back races on the SNES, GBA, Gamecube, and Wii versions of King Koopa’s home course. We can take it!

What tracks would you like to see added in the final two Mario Kart 8: Deluxe Booster Course Pass waves?
