What is it?
- An update/sequel to Blizzard’s immensely popular and colorful multiplayer team-based hero FPS.
When is it out?
- October 4

Overwatch 2 marks the return of Tracer, Genji, Mercy, and co. in the long-awaited hero-shooter sequel. Rather than a full new release, Overwatch 2 will replace the first game entirely as a free-to-play multiplayer title. Scorn (PC, Xbox Series X/S)
What is it?
- A grotesque first-person puzzle and shooter game influenced by the works of H. R. Giger and Zdzisław Beksiński.
When is it out?
- October 14

Scorn looks set to earn the title of video game most likely to put you off your dinner this October. Set in a mysterious grim and gray facility, you’ll explore biomechanical halls and interact with unsettling apparatus as you attempt to figure out why you’re there and what the purpose of the place is. A Plague Tale: Requiem (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/s, Switch Cloud)
What is it?
- A stealth-focussed action-adventure set in an alternate medieval Europe beset by a plague of rats.
When is it out?
- October 18
Details:
Siblings Hugo and Amicia return in Asobo Studio’s followup to A Plague Tale: Innocence. Both are now older and more deadly than before. Amicia has access to a crossbow and other weaponry, while Hugo is learning to utilize his influence over the deadly swarms of rats which lurk in the dark. The narrative looks to deal with Amicia’s increasing use of violence, and the effect that has on both herself and Hugo as they attempt to escape capture.
Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope (Switch)

- A tactical strategy game set in a melded universe of Rabbids and characters from Mario’s Mushroom Kingdom.
When is it out?
- October 20

The second Mario + Rabbids game shakes up the combat by introducing free-form movement on each character’s turn. That means you can run around within your movement range to grab items, utilize the environment, and partner up with allies. This tale introduces several new characters including Rabbid Rosalina and Bowser as Mario and his pals team up to take on an evil force known as Cursa.
New Tales from the Borderlands (PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch)
What is it?
- A choice-based narrative adventure set in the wacky Borderlands universe.
When is it out?
- October 20
Details:
Gearbox Studio Québec takes on a sequel to 2014’s hit Telltale Games spin-off. The new story within the Borderlands world follows three unlikely heroes – Anu, Octavio, and Fran – through episodic chapters as they attempt to survive a planetary invasion and maybe improve their lives by raiding a vault while they’re at it.
Gotham Knights (PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S)
What is it?
- A co-operative action-RPG game in the vein of the Arkham Batman series.
When is it out?
- October 21
Details:
Batman is dead. That leaves it up to Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood to tackle Gotham’s most dangerous criminals in his stead. A wealth of classic Batman villains look set to try their hand at conquering the city, including Penguin, Harley Quinn, Mr. Freeze, and Clayface. With equipment and crafting, it looks a lot like Gotham Knights will be a game about making character numbers go up by fitting new gear into slots, if that’s your thing.

What is it?
- Classic survival horror in a dark dystopian sci-fi world.
When is it out?
- October 27
Details:
An visually unique sci-fi indie horror game aiming to revive the classic survival horror of games like Resident Evil. Explore a mysterious off-world facility from an isometric perspective as you search for your lost memories. Be careful though, as there are insidious creatures lurking in the dark corners of the compound. It made quite the impression in Steam Next Fest, and we can't wait to play more.
Resident Evil Village: Winter’s Expansion

What is it?
- The first big DLC chunk for Capcom’s Resident Evil Village, adding new modes, story, and more.
When is it out?
- October 27
Details:
The main draw for the Winter’s Expansion for Resident Evil Village is the new Shadows of Rose story chapter. It follows Ethan’s daughter, 16 years after the events of the main game. There’s also a new third-person mode for the main game, and new Mercenaries characters in the form of Lady Dimitrescu, Heisenberg, and Chris Redfield.
Resident Evil Re:Verse (PC, PlayStation, Xbox)

What is it?
- A bizarre multiplayer deathmatch spin-off to the Resident Evil Franchise.
When is it out?
- October 28
Details:
We’ll just come out and say it: don’t expect Re:Verse to be a good game. The multiplayer add-on was originally intended to release alongside Resident Evil Village but suffered delay after delay with underwhelming test runs. It finally launches this month as a free update for Village owners, but anyone else will need to splash out if they want to join in.
Bayonetta 3 (Switch)
What is it?
- A fiercely challenging combo-fueled action gaming starring a saucy witch toting guns and monsters made of her hair.
When is it out?
- October 28
Details:
The umbra witch returns in Platinum Games’ third entry in the hack-and-slash series, this time taking on mysterious enemies called Homunculi. Bayonetta 3 promises all of the fabulous flair of the first two games, with new ridiculous moves like Demon Masquerade and Demon Slave, which let her tranform into or take control of demons, respectively. Start warming your fingers up now if you want to earn those platinum ratings.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PC. PlayStation, Xbox)
What is it?
- A single-player and multiplayer first-person shooter. The next Call of Duty game, and sequel to Infinity Ward’s 2019 reboot/revamp.
When is it out?
- October 28
Details:
The story for Modern Warfare 2 follows Captain Price and the rest of Task Force 141 in events that seem to be a reimagining of 2009’s Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. It’s all a bit confusing, isn’t it? On the multiplayer side, new systems like dives and slides should open up new approaches to combat.
