Women-only charity speedrunning event Flame Fatales raises new milestone

A new record!

The Flame Fatales charity speedrunning event has beaten its own records, raising more than $135k USD for the Malala Fund.

Run as part of the Frame Fatales all-women speedrunning series of Games Done Quick, Flame Fatales 2022 ran from August 21-27, with speedruns for a wealth of games including Stardew Valley, Boyfriend Dungeon, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Elden Ring, Ocarina of Time, Titanfall 2, and more.

Earlier this year, Frost Fatales 2022 raised over $132k for the Malala fund, while last year’s Flame Fatales 2021 reached a total of more than $127k. This year’s total of $135,512 marks a new record as interest and support for the event increases.

If you’re interested in checking out any of the runs included in this year’s Frame Fatales, the full catalog from the week-long event is available to watch on the Games Done Quick YouTube channel.

Frame Fatales support the Malala Fund, a non-profit organization that advocates for girls education throughout the world. The Fund was co-founded by 2014 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Malala Yousafzai.

The next event in the Frame Fatales calendar is Frost Fatales 2023. That’s due to take place February 26 through March 4 next year.

Last month, Summer Games Done Quick 2022 delivered a wealth of speedrunning entertainment, including a mind-boggling Ocarina of Time beta showcase. The event wasn’t without controversy, however, after a Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance speedrunner admitted to faking part of their performance.
