Having the tools available isn’t the same as knowing how to use them. Pretty much every major game these days comes with a photo mode included, but some players out there are elevating their in-game captures to an unbelievable level. This weekend saw the London Games Festival host the Virtual Photographer of the Year Award, providing a flood of gorgeous screenshots from video games new and old.
The winner, highlighted on Twitter, earned a beefy gaming laptop as a reward, but the other finalist entries are well worth admiring too. We’ve rounded up the full collection of finalist submissions below, for your eyeballs to appreciate.

Submissions to the competition were judged by a team at Nvidia and The Fourth Focus. Multiple submissions by a single entrant were allowed, and post-processing adjustments were accepted though not essential.
