How to evolve Haunter in Pokémon Legends: Arceus

To evolve Haunter in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, you’ll need to use the Linking Cord item. Haunter shares the same characteristic as Pokémon like Graveler and Machoke, meaning you’ll need to secure several futuristic Linking Cords if you want to complete your Pokédex.
There are three main ways to obtain the Linking Cord:
- A rare drop inside space-time distortions
- By exchanging 1000 MP at the Merit Points Vendor
- By completing certain requests
The first method will see you dashing around space-time distortions whenever they appear. Search the floor for items once they start spawning and you’ll occasionally find a Linking Cord, though it’s drop rates are extremely low. Still, following this path will net you plenty of Shards you can make into money as well.

The most reliable method to get a Linking Cord and evolve Haunter is to purchase one from the Merit Points vendor in Jubilife Village. The stall is to the right of the path up to the training grounds, but you’ll need to earn some Merit Points before you visit.
You’ll earn Merit Points whenever you find a Lost Satchel while out in the world. Just make sure you open up the Lost & Found menu to claim your Merit Point reward once you return the Satchel to its owner. You’ll need 1000 MP to purchase one Linking Cord from the vendor.
Finally, the last way to gain a Linking Cord is through the Getting to Know Ghosts request. This requires you to reach a research level of 10 on Gastly’s Pokédex before showing it to the NPC called Ward in Jubilife Village. It’ll unlock after you’ve calmed the Noble Pokémon of the Cobalt Coastlands and accepted your next mission. Wrap this request up and you’ll earn a Linking Cord as a reward.
Whatever method you choose, use the Linking Cord from your Satchel to evolve Haunter into Gengar in Pokémon Legends: Arceus. It’s worth noting that you’ll need the same item if you want to evolve Kadabra, Machoke, and Graveler, so it’s best to save up plenty of Merit Points early to make sure you can evolve the Pokémon you need without an awful lot of grinding.
