Animal Crossing: New Horizons Gyroid Fragments are dug up out of the ground in the same fashion as fossils. Look for cracks in the floor and use a shovel to dig them up. You’ll find a variety of different Gyroid types.

You can only get Gyroid Fragments when exploring your own island or when taking one of the daily boat tours with Kapp’n. You’re guaranteed to get on Gyroid Fragment on each island you arrive at when taking a Kapp’n tour. You cannot find Gyroids on the mystery island tours via Dodo Airlines. While you're on tours, make sure you keep an eye our for different crops too.

Once you’ve started growing Gyroids on your island (see below) you’ll find more of them appear on your island waiting to be dug up.

Brewster can actually explain the Gyroid process to you, but if you haven’t found him yet, here’s how it works: Gyroids grow just like plants.

Start by taking the Gyroid Fragment to your home island. Dig a hole using a shovel, then choose to plant the Gyroid Fragment in it. Next, water the hole you planted the fragment in. You should see a small effect appear over the hole.

Wait one day, then return and dig up the place you planted the Gyroid Fragment. You should receive one variant of a full Gyroid. Place it to enjoy the sound it makes!

To recap, Gyroid Fragments are found on your own island and Kapp’n’s boat tour islands. Dig them up, then plant them on your own island. Water the planted Gyroid then return the next day to dig up your full Gyroid!

Now that you know Animal Crossing: New Horizons Gyroid Fragment uses, you’re free to build tunes with your own melodic band of the small creatures! Looking to create your own veg patch?
