Metroid Dread’s Speed Booster Puzzles are some of the toughest challenges in the game, and that includes the wealth of bosses. The Dairon region features several Speed Booster and Shinespark puzzles, but only a few require some careful and tricky positioning. Below, we’ll walk you through the Metroid Dread Dairon Speed Booster puzzle solutions to help you maximize that completion rating.
Metroid Dread: Dairon Speed Booster puzzle solutions
There are X Dairon Speed Booster puzzles in Metroid Dread, and you’ll need to make sure you’ve learned how to perform aerial Shinespark dashes and chains before you can complete some of them. The first Metroid Dread Dairon Speed Booster puzzle is located in the top left of the region, right next to the Ghavoran elevator. You’ll be able to access this one from the low-temperature area to the right, and will need the spin attack, space jump, and Gravity Suit to complete it. You’ll also have to make use of an aerial Shinespark into a Speed Boost chain on a sloped surface. We’ll break down the steps below, but here’s how it should look in practice.
Start this Dairon Speed Booster at the bottom of the chamber along the long floor section with an ice block in the corner. Stand on the ice to the right, then run left and charge the Speed Booster by clicking in the left Analog Stick. As soon as it’s charged, tap down to convert to a Shinespark.
You now need to quickly space jump upwards through the corridor, dodging between platforms to follow the left path upwards. When you reach the height of the sloped surface on your right, press Y+B together to activate an aerial Shinespark dash. Aim towards the sloped surface, then, the instant you hit it, tap down to convert to a new Shinespark charge. Continue space jumping to reach the top of the room, You can now Activate a Shinespark charge to dash left through the blocks and claim your Energy Part.

The second Dairon Speed Booster puzzle is a lengthy sequence that’s thankfully not too difficult to pull off once you know where to go. It’s found in the center of the region, in the vertical passageway which links together the sprawling EMMI zone as shown above. To complete this, you’ll need to wall jump and slide while speed boosting, then perform an aerial Shinespark. We’ve got detailed steps below, but here’s how it looks in practice.
Start at the end of the platform inside the EMMI zone below the area. Run to the right, charging your Speed Booster. It should activate shortly after you enter the room, at which point you want to jump to the higher level while running, then jump again immediately to wall jump (press B) off the back wall. Only change the direction of the analog stick after Samus completes the wall jump or you will stop her momentum.
Once on the upper level, you can complete the Speed Booster puzzle in one run by sliding under the blocks below the door in front. In our case, we chose to activate a Shinespark in Morph Ball form to clear these blocks, then repeated the steps listed above. Either way, you’ll eventually want to slide under this gap while Speed Boosting.
In the next room, run to the end of the hallway and press down on the analog stick to convert your run into a Shinespark charge. Next, quickly space jump up the passagewap on the left, then shift to the right and jump until you reach the Speed Booster blocks height. One level, press Y+B together to activate an aerial Shinespark and boost through the blocks. Another Metroid Dread Dairon Speed Booster puzzle down, and this one will have earned you a valuable Missile+ pack!

The final Metroid Dread Dairon Speed Booster puzzle is an easy one, though it’s also extremely easy to miss. It’s located in the high-temperature area to the left of the Artaria elevator in the bottom right corner. To access this section, however, you’ll need to approach from Network Station to the left and use a Power Bomb in a specific room of the high-temperature zone. The Pulse Radar upgrade will ensure you find the right spot. Here’s how the solution works in practice:
You’ll need the Power Bomb and Gravity Suit to reach this Speed Booster puzzle spot, but once in the large chamber with lava underneath it, drop down into the liquid itself. The blocks are on the right side of the room, so run to the left to start. Run from left to right, charging your Speed Booster. Keep running until you break through the back wall and destroy the block hiding the upgrade. Compared to the others, this Speed Booster puzzle makes for a relaxing change!
