The Ridden apocalypse was made to be enjoyed with a pal. Heck, it’s best with three by your side. As a result, you’ll want to learn how to play with friends in Back 4 Blood as soon as possible. The good news is that the game supports full crossplay, so you can partner up with pals no matter what platform you’re on.
How to play with friends in Back 4 Blood

To play with friends in Back 4 Blood, you need to start in the Fort Hope lobby area. From here you’ll be able to invite and add friends to join you in a campaign run. Here are the steps required to invite a friend in Back 4 Blood:
- Open the play menu in Fort Joy
- Swap to the Party section by selecting icon in the top right
- Find your friend’s name under the B4B Friends or Steam/Xbox/PSN friends tabs
- Select their name and choose to send an invite
- Your friend will receive an invite and be able to accept via on-screen prompt
- Your friend will load into your Fort Joy lobby
Inviting a friend on the same platform or that you’ve already added is as simple as that, but what about playing with friends cross platform?

Thankfully the cross-platform steps for Back 4 Blood are also very simple. From the same Party menu as above, you need to click the Add Friends button in the top right. In the central box, you’ll now need to enter the Back 4 Blood friends name that player is using.
Your Back 4 Blood friends name is visible right next to the Add Friends button. Either tell yours to your mate or have them tell you theirs. You’ll need to enter the full name, including the hashtag and numbers that follows it. If you enter the name correctly, your friend will receive an invite in the Friends Request tab on the same menu. Once accepted, they’ll show up on your B4B friends list, no matter what platform they’re playing on.
