Back 4 Blood has combat at the forefront, and no matter how good you are, eventually you're going to be hurt by one of the game's shambling, worm-infested monsters. There's no avoiding that in a game like this, but luckily, there are a few ways to regain health as you advance through levels swarming with the Ridden.

Healing items

An easy-ish way to regain health for yourself or a teammate is to use a healing item. These come in the form of first aid kits, bandages, pain medication, etc. You can purchase healing items from the shops in Safe Rooms in exchange for copper, and find them while you're exploring levels in the world. You can also just straight up buy health from the vendor, but it won't recover any Trauma you might have.

These items appear in the bottom right corner of your screen, above your weapons and below your projectile. To use them, select them and then press the key/button your system prompts you to and hold it until the heal is completed on you or your teammate.

Health stations

Each level in Back 4 Blood will have at least one health station that you and your teammates can use to recover after a tough fight. These stations have multiple charges, so more than one person can use them to heal. So long as the station in a level has remaining charges, you can use it to heal while you're in that level. If you happen to have the tool kit equipped as one of your items, you can open locked rooms, which may also contain an additional health station, along with other weapons, ammo and loot.

Cards

There are some cards you can use to give yourself a health boost, so be on the lookout as you explore and find places to buy cards.

That's all there is to healing in co-op zombie survival shooter Back 4 Blood. For more Back 4 Blood features and guides, check out our game hub
