As noted above, Ferenia has three Speed Booster Puzzles, each of which requires a slightly different strategy. We’ll walk you through each below, so check which one lines up with your location on the map.

The first Ferenia Speed Booster puzzle in Metroid Dread is located in the cold area to the north of the EMMI zone, as shown in the image above. To solve this Speed Booster puzzle, you first need to break into the chamber with the grapple block and pull it out of the way. After that, climb back up. We’ve got the written steps below, but here’s how the run should look in motion:

For the run, you need to start in the room through the door to the right of the blocks. Kill the enemies and line up at the back wall. Open the doorway and run through while charging the Speed Booster. Before you hit the wall, convert it into a Shinespark by pressing down on the analog stick.

Quickly slide under the gap, then jump and shoot down to destroy the beam blocks. Finally, climb into the hole as a morph ball and press B without any direction to charge the Shinespark boost. Hold right and you’ll boost all the way to the end of the tunnel. The Missile Tank is in the top left corner of the room, hidden behind a missile block.

The second Ferenia Speed Booster puzzle in Metroid Dread is located in the bottom left corner of the map, next to the Dairon shuttle. The Ferenia Missile Tank+ reward is hidden behind some Pitfall and Speed Booster blocks in the room to the right of the shuttle. To complete it, you need to know how to perform an aerial Shinespark dash – something the game doesn’t really bother to teach you, so here's our guide which covers it in detail. Here’s the solution in motion, with written steps below.

You’ll want to start this Metroid Dread Speed Booster run in the middle of the shuttle room. Run to the right, charge the Speed Booster, and shoot open the door. Before you hit the wall at the end, press down on the analog stick to convert your run to a Shinespark. You have just five seconds to complete the next steps when you do, so get ready to move fast.

You need to jump up and grab the ledge to your left. Roll across and slide into the next Morph Ball section before immediately laying a bomb. Then, before you hit the Pitfall Blocks, you need to tap up to leave the Morph Ball mode, then press Y + B simultaneously (with the analog stick in a neutral position) to activate an aerial Shinespark dash. Hold the right as it charges to dash into the blocks and claim your reward.

The biggest challenge to this Ferenia Speed Booster puzzle is the timing window. You don’t have long to jump, roll over, drop a mine, then perform an aerial Shinespark. We recommend practicing using the Shinespark while in the Shuttle room before you start.

The final Metroid Dread Ferenia Speed Booster puzzle is also located in the bottom left of the region, next to the Dairon shuttle. This time, however, we’ll be heading to the left. To complete this puzzle you’ll need to use a few Shinespark tricks including activating it in the air and chaining Shinesparks on sloped surfaces. Here’s how it’ll look in practice, with written instructions below:

Starting in the shuttle room, run left and charge your Speed Booster, then slide under the wall. In the next room, convert your speed into a Shinespark by hitting down before you reach the wall. You now need to perform an aerial Shinespark by jumping and then pressing Y+B without any direction on the analog stick. You need to jump, activate the Shinespark boost, then aim towards the sloped surface on the left.

Another trick the game doesn’t tell you is that Shinespark boosting into a sloped surface will convert Samus back to Speed Boosting. Use this to run up the slope, then tap down at the top to convert into another Shinespark charge. Now jump up and roll through the Morph Ball hole. On the other side, jump and perform a second aerial shinespark boost into the sloped surface on the right. At the top, convert to another Shinespark charge by tapping down. Finally, boost directly upwards to break the Speed Booster blocks. Phew, the Energy Tank is yours.

Those are all the Metroid Dread Ferenia Speed Booster puzzle solutions we’ve got for you. They seem pretty tricky, but once you understand the Speed Booster and Shinespark mechanics, you just need to practice the circuit. We also have a guide to all the Dairon region booster puzzles you can read here. Head to our Metroid Dread hub page to see all the other tips and tricks we have for the game.
