Metroid Dread Gravity Suit guide

Learn how to get the Gravity Suit in Metroid Dread so you're free to explore every area.

The biggest hurdle to unlocking all of Metroid Dread’s map is acquiring the Gravity Suit upgrade. This allows Samus to enter both hot and cold areas, massively reduces the damage taken, and even allows for free movement underwater. Several other items even tease Gravity Suit upgrades in advance. To you grab it as soon as possible, we’ll break down how to get the Gravity Suit in Metroid Dread below.

The Gravity Suit is located in Burenia, but you won’t be able to get it until you revisit Ferenia to claim both the Storm Missiles and Space Jump powers. If you’ve not been back there to get these yet, keep trucking on with the main story for the point you’re up to. Once you revisit Ferenia and claim the Storm Missiles and Space Jump, you’ll be ready to return to Burenia and get the Gravity Suit.

The fastest route back to Burenia is through the Green Teleportal located in Ghavoran, though you can also return through the standard shuttles in Dairon as well. After claiming the Space Jump, take the shuttle back to Ghavoran and use your new power to hop over the water shown in the image above and reach the Teleportal. On the Burenia side, return to the larger chamber and use the Space Jump to hop across the large room to the Plasma door in the top left, as shown below.

Follow the pathways down, making sure to stop in the Save Room on the left, then grab the Energy Tank in the room with a Storm Missile Block above the doorway as you head to the right. Again, you’ll need to Space Jump across from the Spider track to it. After passing through a long Morph Ball track and dropping into a huge chamber with a large creature, you’ll travel further right, eventually entering a large flooded chamber, as marked below.

From the upper right, Space Jump across to the left side, then take the Morph Ball track up into the hidden chamber. At the bottom of this chamber you can kill an enemy before destroying several blocks and using your Grapple Beam to dislodge a large part of the background scenery. Once this falls, you’ll be able to drop down and enter the tunnel to reach the Gravity Suit Chamber. Collect it to get full, free movement underwater and resistance to extreme temperatures. Combined with the Space Jump, you can now explore the majority of Metroid Dread’s areas.
