You’ll obtain the Grapple Beam in Artaria after exploring the top left exit from the EMMI zone. Once you have it, you’re free to venture in quite a few different ways. We’ll point out the story progression path below, but before that we’d highly recommend taking the time to get the Pulse Radar Aeion ability early. You can access it as soon as you have the Grapple Beam, so read our guide on how to use the Pulse Radar shortcut here.

As for progressing the story, the new region of Ferenia is your next top, and major story points are coming. To access Ferenia, you need to return to Darion. Take the teleporter from Artaria or a shuttle from Cataris to access Darion once more. There are several items you can grab here behind Grapple Beam blocks, doors, and boxes, but to progress the story, you need to head to the top right section of the EMMI zone, as shown in the image above.

There’s a Speed Booster block wall you can destroy here, close to the EMMI zone door near the Save Room. Build up speed on the upper platform before bursting through. Once inside, you can use the Grapple Beam to pull the Grapple Beam Box down and into a hole, creating a platform for you to walk over and into the space it was previously. Up in this area you’ll find an Elevator to Ferenia. Be warned, though. Ferenia is not a welcoming place and you’ll soon find yourself in a boss fight against the Robot Chozo Soldier.

We’ll avoid spoiling any more, as with the steps above you should know where to go after the Grapple Beam in Metroid Dread. Good luck exploring for the rest of Samus’ adventures on ZDR. If you need more tips, head over to our hub page for the game.
