Hand Cannon added to Fortnite Battle Royale

Season 3 has plenty of goodies for players to try out, including a brand new Hand Cannon.

Season 3 of Fortnite Battle Royale has officially been released, bringing with it a variety of exciting updates and additions. Among these new additions is the Hand Cannon, which many are comparing to the infamous Desert Eagle from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. This is due, in part, to the Hand Cannon being seen as somewhat overpowered in contrast to other weapons in the game.

In videos showcasing the Hand Cannon’s impressive power, players have been able to snag 78 damage via body shot using the weapon’s Epic variant, and even a headshot packing a whopping 187 damage. With the potential to kill in as little as 2-3 shots, players certainly won’t want to find themselves staring down the Hand Cannon’s barrel.

Damage aside, other notable features of the Hand Cannon include its ability to fire Heavy ammo, its availability in both Epic and Legendary rarities, and its inclusion in Treasure Chests, Supply Drops, and Floor Loot. To help mitigate the introduction of the Hand Cannon, double-pumping on shotguns received a slight nerf, forcing players to reload the shotgun after firing and switching weapons.

Additionally, Epic and Legendary drops of the Suppressed Pistol have been decreased, while Uncommon and Rare drops have been increased.
