Colt will actually heal a bit of his lower HP bar back automatically if you can avoid taking damage for a while. The amount he'll auto-heal shows up on the HP bar as a fainter red chunk. You can use Trinkets to increase how much Colt is able to auto-heal. Other weapon and personal Trinkets can also add to your healing arsenal. Some, for example, allow you to recover HP through melee attacks, or leech small amounts of health from enemies.

Additionally, you can drink the Fizz Pop bottles scattered around the map to heal, but they only restore a small amount of health per bottle. The best environmental healing factor in Deathloop is actually the Health Stations found on each map. These can fully heal you, and have a recharge so you can return to them later if you're hurt again. Be sure to take the time to find these Health Stations, and take note of where they are so you can use them when you need to. Being able to heal in a pinch will definitely give you an edge in Deathloop's dangerous missions.

Be sure to explore the map to be aware of healing items and Health Stations, and equip Trinkets that provide healing boosts, both for personal and weapon Trinket slots.
