Crossplay connections in Pokemon Unite are made using Trainer ID. Follow the steps below explaining how to find your Trainer ID and how to search for your friends using theirs.
You can find your Trainer ID by tapping the top right icon with your avatar on mobile or by pressing L on Nintendo Switch. This will open your Trainer Info page. On the Profile tab, you should see your Trainer ID listed directly above your name on your profile card. You’ll want to write this down and send it to your friends, or have them send you theirs.

To invite friends over crossplay, start on the main menu and open the options list on the left side of the screen. Scroll down and select Friends. In this menu, swap down to the Friend Search tab, then tap the search box at the top or press X on Nintendo Switch to enter your friend’s Trainer ID.
Once the request is sent, the recipient will need to use the Friends tab and press the Requests button (+ on Nintendo Switch) to open their list of Requests. Here they can accept your invite, meaning you’ll both appear on each other’s friends lists.
Once added, you can play Pokemon Unite crossplay by inviting any friends from the Battle Menu. Open the friends list on the left side of the screen (Y on Nintendo Switch) or select one of the plus icons to invite anyone on your friends list into the lobby.
