Exploring the upper floors of Castle Dimitrescu, you’ll encounter a large room with a seriously impressive painting of Lady Dimitrescu and a request to let the five bells ring out. These golden ringers are hidden throughout the room, and you’ll need to shoot all five bells to progress onwards. Below, we’ll teach you how to solve the five bells puzzle by highlighting all the bell locations in Resident Evil Village’s Castle Dimitrescu’s upper chamber.

Resident Evil Village five bells puzzle solution

The Resident Evil Village five bells puzzle requires you to carefully inspect the painting room to find five bell locations, shooting them so that the fire above lights. They’re of varying size, meaning some are very easy to spot, while others are hidden quite carefully. We’ll highlight the five bell locations below so you can easily shoot them all and progress.

The first bell location is very obvious, sitting on a table against the back wall near the stairs, close to a mannequin and covered painting. Shoot it to light the fire above.

The second bell location is behind you. Turn around to see a tall glass display cabinet (holding some gunpowder) against the entrance-door wall with a painting above it. The bell is a small one sitting on top of the cabinet. Shoot it to light the fire.

The third bell is hidden in the giant cog mechanism by the back wall. Look at the swinging components and you’ll see a large bell pendulum swinging back and forth. You can shoot this through any of the gaps, but the easiest method is to walk up the staircase to the left and look in the nearest window. The bell will swing up and pause here, allowing an easier shot.

The fourth bell location is visible from the same spot at the top of the stairs. Now, look out of the skylight window on the opposite side of the room. The bell is visible in the distance, so you’ll need to smash the window then shoot the bell to light the brazier.

The fifth and final bell location in Resident Evil Village is the easiest to miss. Standing in the same spot at the top of the stairs, look at the chandelier hanging in the center of the room. You should be able to see the top of the bell hidden within the chandelier itself. Shoot it to light the brazier on the chandelier.

With all five bell locations identified and shot, you’ll have solved the bell puzzle in Resident Evil Village. The large painting at the end of the room will shift away, opening the path to the attic and, more exciting, the sniper rifle location.
