The Resident Evil Village demo might not be flooded with as many secret endings and tricks as the Baker family’s household, but you’ll still need to solve a few puzzles to make a break for freedom. In our Resident Evil Village demo walkthrough we’ll guide you to from the dungeon to the outdoors as you help the Maiden make her escape.
Resident Evil Village demo guide
Our Resident Evil Village demo guide kicks off with the maiden trapped in a cell. You’ll receive a note through a hole in the wall which gives you a few clues as to how to progress. First, crouch and crawl through the hole in the floor under the bench.
The next cell over will be open, allowing you into the hallway. Head up through the passageway and you’ll pass several locked cells, as well as a couple of opened ones, one of which contains a dead woman – remember her.
Walk all the way up to the end and you’ll find a locked door with a box you can’t open. You should hear a noise behind you, so walk back down to the room with the dead woman. She should have fallen over, revealing some bolt cutters in her back. Pull them out and move to the cell back down the hallway with a chain over it. There should be some buckets inside (you’re at the wrong cell if there’s the top half of a corpse dangling in the center), one of which you can interact with to find a lockpick submerged in the blood.
Return to the door at the end of the hallway and use the lockpick to open up the box, then pull the lever. Don’t worry about the scrabbling noises nearby – they can’t get to you. Head upstairs into the small kitchen-like room.
Walk all the way around the room and crouch next to the cabinet under all the wine. You can interact with it to find a secret passageway. Hit the stone button in here to open the path up and into the mansion. Make sure to read the note up the ladder here if you want some extra background to the building. You've made it halfway through our Resident Evil Village demo guide! How's that heart holding up?
In the first room of the mansion you’ll find a necklace belonging to your character on the table. This item doesn’t appear to have a use in the demo just yet, but knowing Capcom it’ll turn up later. Head along the halls, ignoring the locked doors until you reach the main room with a staircase and a large chandelier. There’s a door along the upper level with a face that’s missing an eye. You’ll be returning here shortly.
Head down the stairs and through the room at the back (the other two doors are locked – go figure). Don’t worry if you hear some unsettling sounds, the vampire ladies can’t get you. Not yet, anway.
Through the back door is a dining room with the windows pulled back. There’s a door to the outside here but you can’t use it just yet. Check the table and look for a wine goblet. Interact and look inside to find a ring with an eye in it. Open your inventory with Triangle and inspect the eye to remove it from the ring. Figured out where this goes yet?
Head back to the main room and up the stairs (you’ll hear some footsteps as you re-enter the room) to the door with the missing eye. Place your new red eye in there and enter the hidden chamber. It's nicer than most you've been in so far, so take a moment for a breather here.Along with some interesting notes, if you open the cupboards on your right, you’ll find a key to the dining room door inside.
Return to the main hall and head downstairs. As you approach the back door one of the bee vampires (or witches? We’re not entirely sure) will materialize and attack you. You can take a bite from her, so don’t worry too much about her grabbing you. Run for and through the back door to escape to the safety of the dining room. You can now use your key to open the courtyard doors for a lovely (read: deadly) surprise!
Congratulations! By following our Resident Evil Village demo guide you’ll have managed to give the Maiden, well, some kind of closure at least. With items like the necklace we’re pretty sure Capcom is teasing a future update or hidden secret. We’ll update you if we find anything more.
