Resident Evil Village arrives May 7, includes multiplayer spin-off Re:Verse

A PS5 exclusive demo is now available.

Resident Evil Village will release on May 7 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Included with the game is a new multiplayer mode called Resident Evil Re:Verse.

During last night’s Resident Evil Showcase stream, Capcom announced the Resident Evil Village release date as May 7, also confirming rumors that the game would be coming to the Xbox One and PS4. The showcase delivered an extra look at the game in action, showing off several new enemies and the return of Resident Evil 4’s inventory management system. In case you missed it, we’ve embedded the full showcase below.

Ahead of the game’s launch, PS5 owners can get a sneak peek via an exclusive demo titled Maiden. Set ahead of the game’s story, it features a new character attempting to escape the capture of the titular village’s unnatural inhabitants. If it plays out anything like Resident Evil 7’s tricksy, secret-packed demo, it likely won’t end up very well for the maiden in question. A further demo (available on all platforms) is planned ahead of the game’s launch, giving everyone a chance to give Resident Evil Village a spin before it launches.

Along with every copy of Resident Evil Village, players will get access to a new multiplayer mode titled Re:Verse. Much like Resident Evil 3’s Resistance mode, this is an experimental new competitive multiplayer mode which sees four to six players face off in deathmatches set in oversized arenas from Resident Evil games. There’s a closed beta coming up soon on PS4 and Xbox One, so if you’d like to give it a try, you can sign up using the instructions here.

So to recap, Resident Evil Village will release May 7 on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The multiplayer Resident Evil Re:Verse mode will be included with all copies.
