Metal Gear Solid movie books Oscar Isaac as Snake

Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Metal Gear Solid movie scores its starring role in Poe Dameron actor.

Oscar Isaac has been locked in for the starring role as Solid Snake in the film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid, Deadline reports today. The film is being directed by Kong: Skull Island's Jordan Vogt-Roberts, and joined by fellow Kong and Detective Pikachu writer Derek Connolly.

The full hitlist of talent bringing Hideo Kojima's seminal series to the silver screen includes Spider-Verse and Venom producer Avi Arad, which makes sense as the developing studio is Sony Pictures.

This'll be yet another big role for Isaac, who is fresh off playing Poe Dameron in the conclusion of the latest Star Wars trilogy. He's also booked in for upcoming roles as Marvel's Moon Knight in a Disney+ production, and will be appearing in the Denis Villeneuve reboot of Dune, set to release as soon as theaters figure out if they're open or not.

Isaac has been making noise about wanting to play the gaming icon for a long time now, telling IGN in early 2019 that he was throwing his hat in the ring for the starring role. This attracted the attention of Vogt-Roberts, which appears to have set things in motion for dreams becoming reality for the Star Wars star.

The news got photoshop wizard BossLogic in the mood for seeing what it might look like and it seems like fellow spoofer SPDRMNKYXIII's poster mock-up from a year ago was right on the money as well. Exceptional calls all round.

Do you think Oscar Isaac is perfect casting as Solid Snake in the Metal Gear Solid movie? Who would you like to see starring opposite him as Liquid or Ocelot?
