The best VR games for your Oculus Quest 2

Treat your eyes to a feast with our roundup of the best VR games to enjoy on your Oculus Quest 2.

Qualms about Facebook aside, the Oculus Quest 2 (or now Meta Quest 2) has pretty much blown the world of VR gaming away thanks to a combination of affordable pricing and large improvements to visuals, performance, and comfort. It’s hard to argue that this new wireless machine is the best VR headset on the market, and that’s led plenty of new folks to pick one up. A headset it only as good as the games available on it, however, so to help you make the most of your new toy, we’ve put together a list of the best VR games for your Oculus Quest 2. If you haven’t tried VR before, these are the games that you absolutely need to have in your virtual reality collection.

Our list of the best VR games for your Oculus Quest 2 is just below, but we wanted to note that we’ve included some games that’ll need a VR-capable PC to play. There aren’t many, but if you want to enjoy titles like Half-Life: Alyx and Star Wars: Squadrons, you will need an Oculus Link and a computer capable of running them. Not available for everyone, certainly, but the game are just too good to skip over. With that said, let’s get virtual.

Beat Saber

What is it?

Possibly the best rhythm game ever made (sorry Guitar Hero stans). Blocks fly toward you to a beat, and you slice them out of the air using giant lightsabers. Doubles up as a fantastic fitness game on the harder difficulties.

Requires Oculus Link?

No

How much is it?

$30 on the Oculus Store. Also available on Steam.

Pistol Whip

What is it?

Like Beat Saber, but you shoot goons to a tune instead of slicing blocks. A novel take on the rhythm format that brings a lot of style but proves surprisingly challenging. Great for those who’ve conquered Beat Saber. Don’t worry, if you’re a terrible shot, it’ll still make you feel like John Wick.

Requires Oculus Link?

No

How much is it?

$25 on the Oculus Store. Also available on Steam.

Superhot VR

What is it?

A stellar puzzle-shooter. Polygonal goons are out to get you, but time only moves when you do. Plan your motions carefully as you dodge bullets, throw katanas, and line up shots in slow motion.

Requires Oculus Link?

No.

How much is it?

$25 on the Oculus Store. Also available on Steam.

Walkabout Mini Golf

What is it?

Mini golf perfected in VR form. Putt a tiny ball through adventurous courses themed around pirate ship wrecks, Don Quixote, the world's wonders, and more. Walkabout Mini Golf absolutely nails the physics and feel of minigolf butwith more outlandish environments than real life can offer. It's also quality in multiplayer, whether that's online or trading the headset. We loved it so much we wrote and entire feature on it.

Requires Oculus Link?

No.

How much is it?

$15 on the Oculus Store. Also available on Steam.

Half-Life: Alyx

What is it?

A new Half-Life game (yeah we haven’t really gotten over that either yet) made entirely for VR. You play as Gordon’s companion Alyx in a precursor story to Half-Life 2. It’s an involved, lengthy, and impressive VR title that’s a must-play for anyone with a headset and PC capable of running it.

Requires Oculus Link?

Yes.

How much is it?

$59.99 on Steam.

Star Wars: Squadrons

What is it?

The best dogfighting games in years. Soar through the stars, shooting down X-Wings and TIE Fighters. Features a solid campaign and full multiplayer support in VR. An incredible experience in VR, though not a great one for newbies.

Requires Oculus Link?

Yes.

How much is it?

$39.99 on Steam

Phantom: Covert Ops

What is it?

Splinter Cell but in a kayak. Stealthily paddle through military bases to take out key objectives or capture intel. The premise may be strange but trust us, the gameplay is an absolute blast.

Requires Oculus Link?

No.

How much is it?

$30 on the Oculus Store.

Vader Immortal: A Star Wars Series

What is it?

A flashy Star Wars action experience. Less of a game than most other titles on this list, Vader Immortal’s lightsaber duels are still an essential play for any Star Wars fans. There are three short chapters to play through, but each one keeps the intensity and thrills high throughout.

Requires Oculus Link?

No.

How much is it?

$10 per chapter on the Oculus Store.

Eleven Table Tennis

What is it?

Table Tennis in VR. No, really, it’s as simple as that. The Quest 2’s excellent tracking makes VR ping pong outrageously satisfying. Obviously this one is best enjoyed when playing against a friend online.

Requires Oculus Link?

No.

How much is it?

$20 on the Oculus Store. Also available on Steam.

The Room VR: A Dark Matter

What is it?

An excellent escape room in VR. You know, those things that were growing really popular until 2020 saw us all shut up inside our houses? The Room VR delivers a taxing puzzle to work through in the spooky halls of the British Institute of Archaeology.

Requires Oculus Link?

No.

How much is it?

$30 on the Oculus Store. Also available on Steam.

Moss

What is it?

A heartfelt platforming adventure. Moss may be an early VR title, but it remains a superb story worth playing through for anyone who’s new to the technology. Guide a cute mouse called Quill through fantasy forests and ruins, moving the environment to help solve puzzles and defeat foes.

Requires Oculus Link?

No.

How much is it?

$30 on the Oculus Store. Also available on Steam.
