Difficulty in Phasmophobia is determined by the hunt you’re taking on. That means there’s no menu option to bump up the challenge. Instead, you’ll need to unlock the higher difficulties by leveling up. To unlock Intermediate you need to reach level 10. To unlock Professional you need to reach level 15. Once you’ve made it to a high enough level, all you’ll need to do is take on hunts at that difficulty level.

Each hunt has its own difficulty level which you can’t manually adjust. Sometimes you’ll be given lower difficulty hunts even once you’ve made it past the level boundaries, so don’t expect every level to be brutally tough. If you’re not happy with the level of your assigned hunt, just leave the room and make a new lobby until you get what you want.

  • Ghost hunting durations are increased

Professional

  • Triples cash rewards
  • Doubles experience rewards
  • No preparation time
  • Sanity is consumed 100% faster
  • Even higher level of ghostly activities
  • Ghost hunting durations are increased further

And that’s all we know about how to change difficulty in Phasmophobia. Good luck on those tougher hunts, as more and more ghosts will prove to be deadly threats. Eager for more spooky guides? Our Phasmophobia hub page will sort you out.
