Where to find Xur in Destiny 2 - September 18, 2020

The updated location of everyone's favorite Exotic goods vendor in Destiny 2, Xur.

Guess what? It's Xur day! If you’re new to Destiny 2 and are wondering who Xur is and what Xur does in Destiny 2, Xur is an Exotic goods vendor who appears at a random location every week starting on Friday.

By visiting Xur, you can purchase Exotic armor pieces for your Warlock, Titan, or Hunter, along with an Exotic weapon. If you’re eager to buy Exotics from Xur, you’ll first need to spend a bit of time finding where Xur has spawned.

Because Xur spawns at a random location every week, it can be somewhat time-consuming to run through all of his potential spawn locations in order to find him.

To help make things easier, we’ve put together a guide explaining where you can find Xur in Destiny 2, and all of the Exotic items he has available for purchase in Destiny 2 during the week of September 18, 2020!

In Destiny 2, Xur appears at a random location every Friday. Xur’s main purpose is to serve as the game’s Exotic goods vendor, selling Exotic weapons and armor. Before you can purchase Exotic items from Xur, you’ll first need to find where he’s hanging out.

Going through all of the locations where Xur is known to spawn is one way to find him, but this takes time, especially if you’re new to Destiny 2. To speed things up, you can look up Xur’s location online in guides like this one. Note that if you search for Xur before his spawn time of 10:00 a.m. (PST), 1:00 p.m. (EST), and 6:00 p.m. (BST), you may miss Xur even if you’re at the correct location.

We recommend waiting until the aforementioned time before you head out to meet with Xur. Once Xur appears in Destiny 2, he’ll stay put in the same spot until Tuesday selling a random Exotic weapon along with Exotic armor pieces. If you want to buy something from Xur, you have until Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. (PST), 1:00 p.m. (EST), and 6:00 p.m. (BST) to do so.

After Tuesday, you’ll need to wait until the following Friday to buy Exotic items from Xur again. During the week of September 18, Xur can be found in a cave in the Giant’s Scar region of IO Xur can be found in the Giant’s Scar area of IO in a cave to the south of Terrabase Charon.

To reach him, you’ll want to spawn into the Giant’s Scar area then hop on your Sparrow and travel north, following the path on the left-hand side. The cave entrance is somewhat hidden so if needed, hop off your Sparrow and make your way up the path on foot.

If you’re someone who prefers visual directions over written directions, we’ve included a helpful video guide at the bottom on this article that’ll show you exactly where you need to go to find Xur this week.

During the week of September 18 through September 22, you can visit Xur at the location outlined above. By speaking with Xur, you’ll be able to browse through his updated inventory of Exotic items. If you see something you want, you can purchase one or more of these Exotic items using Legendary Shards.

If Xur has nothing worth buying this week, rest assured that Xur’s inventory refreshes each week. You can always save your Legendary Shards and try again next week. In addition to Exotic armor for Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans, Xur sells one Exotic weapon each week along with a Fated Engram.

Wondering what Xur is selling this week and whether you should pay him a visit? Below, we’ve put together a list of all Exotics sold by Xur from September 18 through September 22 in Destiny 2!

  • Riskrunner (Exotic Submachine Gun) - 29 Legendary Shards
  • Young Ahamkara’s Spine (Exotic Hunter Gauntlets) - 23 Legendary Shards
  • Wormgod Caress (Exotic Titan Gauntlets) - 23 Legendary Shards
  • Apotheosis Veil (Exotic Warlock Helmet) - 23 Legendary Shards
  • Fated Engram - 97 Legendary Shards

During the week of September 18 through September 22 in Destiny 2, you can purchase a Riskrunner Exotic Submachine Gun from Xur for 29 Legendary Shards. The Riskrunner is a solid Submachine Gun with some deadly abilities. Namely, a high ROF and Perks like Arc Conductor where taking Arc damage increases the Riskrunner’s power and Arc resistance.

The caveat to this weapon is that the Riskrunner can be acquired fairly easily by completing the Pain and Gain quest, so it isn’t exactly worth spending 29 Legendary Shards to get. No judgment if you pick one up from Xur this week, just something to keep in mind before making a purchase!

The Exotic armor on offer this week include the Exotic Hunter gauntlets, Young Ahamkara’s Spine. This is a fairly common item in Xur’s inventory and the flat 60 roll isn’t exactly spectacular. We don’t often see the Wormgod Caress, but again the flat 60 roll isn’t compelling. Finally, there’s the Apotheosis Veil for Warlocks.

It’s another item we see somewhat regularly in Xur’s inventory. While it has the best roll at 63, the Intellect rating is surprisingly low. Given that it’ll likely pop up again in Xur’s inventory, it’s probably best to wait on purchasing an Apotheosis Veil until one pops up with stats that are a bit more balanced.

If you don’t see anything worth buying this week, feel free to save your Legendary Shards and check back with Xur next week to see if he has something closer to what you’re looking for. Until Xur appears again, we’re curious to hear your thoughts on Xur’s inventory this week. Are you disappointed at the Riskrunner being the Exotic weapon up for grabs this week? Comment below!
