Each skater in the game has a selection of special tricks they can use. You’ll be able to add to your list of specials as you upgrade skaters, giving new ways to score points. Every skater’s list is unique, so to learn how to use specials in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, you’ll want to open the specials list.

Open the main menu, then use the shoulder buttons (L1 and R1 for PS4, or LB and RB for Xbox One) to swap to the Skater menu. Now shift to the tricks section using the triggers to see all the specials your current skater can perform. You’re going to want to check and learn these inputs for your favorite skaters, as each comes with their own set of specials. If any of the inputs are too difficult for you, you can change them to your own commands using the tricks menu. Make sure you’re comfortable with the inputs you want.

Once you know how to perform your special, it’s just a matter of building up your special meter. You’ll see this as a flaming bar in the top left of your screen. Pull off tricks, grinds, manuals, or any other move without tumbling off the board and this will begin to fill up.

Once it’s maxed out and lit up, you can use specials in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2. Try to mix these in with quick, combo multiplying moves so that you really maximize the points from each special. Be careful though, as falling off will empty your special meter. Some specials are in the air, while others are grind or lip tricks, so always check when you swap between characters.
