To perform a manual in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, all you need to do is tap the left analog stick up then down quickly before you land from the air. If you prefer, you can also tap down and then up. The former will see you balance on the back wheels of your board, while the latter will see you balance on the front end of your board. If you want to manual when landing from a half pipe or quarter pipe, you’ll need to revert as well before you land. Hit the trigger as you land, then tap up then down, or down then up.

Once you start a manual in Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2, you’ll then need to keep your balance in line, just like when performing a grind. You can manual from a straight jump , even without moving. However, because you want them to chain between other moves to build your combo, it’s best to use manuals when travelling at speed.
