Where to find Xur in Destiny 2 - September 4, 2020

The location of the elusive Xur and all of the Exotics he has available for purchase this week in Destiny 2.

It’s officially Friday, otherwise known as Xur Day for Destiny 2 players. If you’re new to Destiny 2 and are wondering who Xur is and what he does in Destiny 2, Xur is an Exotic goods vendor who appears at a random location every week starting on Friday. By visiting Xur, you can purchase Exotic armor pieces for your Titan, Hunter, or Warlock, along with an Exotic weapon.

Before you can look over the Exotics that Xur has available for purchase, you’ll first need to overcome a few obstacles. Namely, finding where Xur has spawned. Because Xur spawns at a random location every week, it can be somewhat time-consuming to run through all of his potential spawn areas in order to find him.

To help make things easier, we’ve put together a guide explaining where you can find Xur in Destiny 2, and all of the Exotic items he has available for purchase in Destiny 2 during the week of September 4, 2020!

In Destiny 2, Xur appears at a random location each and every Friday. Xur serves as the game’s Exotic goods vendor, selling Exotic weapons and armor. Before you can purchase Exotic items from Xur, you’ll first need to find him. Checking all of the locations where Xur is known to spawn is one way to find him, but can be a bit tedious, especially if you’re new to Destiny 2.

To save time, you can look up Xur’s location online in guides like this one. Note that if you search for Xur before his spawn time of 10:00 a.m. (PST), 1:00 p.m. (EST), and 6:00 p.m. (BST), you may miss Xur even if you’re at the correct location. We recommend waiting until the aforementioned time before you head out to meet with Xur.

Once Xur appears in Destiny 2, he’ll stay put in the same spot until Tuesday selling a random Exotic weapon along with Exotic armor pieces. If you want to buy something from Xur, you have until Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. (PST), 1:00 p.m. (EST), and 6:00 p.m. (BST) to do so. After Tuesday, you’ll need to wait until the following Friday to buy Exotic items from Xur again.

During the week of September 4, Xur can be found on top of Calus’ Barge in the Watcher’s Grave area of Nessus. If you’re unfamiliar with where Calus’ Barge is located, we’ve included a video at the bottom of this article that’ll show you exactly where you need to go in order to reach Xur.

During the week of September 4 through September 8, you can visit Xur at the location detailed above. By speaking to Xur, you’ll be able to browse through his updated inventory of Exotic items. If you see something you like, you can purchase one or more of these Exotic items using Legendary Shards.

Xur’s inventory refreshes weekly, so if you don’t see anything worth buying, you can save your Legendary Shards and try again next week. In addition to Exotic armor for Warlocks, Hunters, and Titans, you can purchase one Exotic weapon from Xur each week along with a Fated Engram.

Wondering what Xur is selling this week and whether you should pay him a visit? Below, we’ve put together a list of all Exotics sold by Xur from September 4 through September 8 in Destiny 2!

  • Merciless (Exotic Fusion Rifle) - 29 Legendary Shards
  • Foetracer (Exotic Hunter Helmet) - 23 Legendary Shards
  • Aeon Safe (Exotic Titan Gauntlets) - 23 Legendary Shards
  • Wings of Sacred Dawn (Exotic Warlock Chest) - 23 Legendary Shards
  • Fated Engram - 97 Legendary Shards

During the week of September 4 through September 8 in Destiny 2, you can purchase a Merciless Exotic Fusion Rifle from Xur for a total of 29 Legendary Shards. We’ve seen the Merciless pop up before in the recent past, with Xur selling it back during the week of August 7. At that time, we remarked that while it’s not the worst fusion rifle in Destiny 2, it’s also not the best of the best either.

With that being said, the Merciless will be receiving a patch soon which could buff the weapon and make it a bit more viable in the current meta of Destiny 2. With that thought in mind, it could be worth grabbing one from Xur this week if you don’t already own one. In addition to the Merciless, Xur has a few interesting Exotic armor pieces available for purchase.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen both the Foetracer and Wings of Sacred Dawn in Xur’s inventory. Out of all the Exotic armor pieces available, the Aeon Safe gauntlets have the best stats by far with a roll of 66 in comparison to the Foetracer’s 61 and the 62 of the Wings of Sacred Dawn. Unfortunately, the Aeon Safe gauntlets aren’t the best option for Titans.

The way they work simply isn’t cohesive unless you’re working in unison with a team. Even then, they’re often… well, not worthwhile. We’ll go with that. The Foetracer isn’t much better honestly. The best of the bunch is the Wings of Sacred Dawn which looks great in terms of aesthetics and can be useful in certain situations and scenarios.

It depends on your preferences and how you play. As with any week, if you don’t see anything you want to buy from Xur you can hold on to your Legendary Shards and check back in with Xur again next week to see if he has something better. While we wait to see next week’s batch of Exotics, we’re curious to hear your thoughts on Xur’s inventory this week.

Are you planning to buy a Merciless Exotic Fusion Rifle? What do you think of an Exotic like the Aeon Safe having such a high roll? Let us know down in the comments below!
