You can get the Mitten Crab between September and November for the northern hemisphere, or March and May for the southern hemisphere. Here are the key details you need to know to catch it, as well as the Mitten Crab price:

  • When: 4pm - 9am, September - November
  • Where: River
  • Shadow Size: Small
  • Price: 2,000 bells

You’ll need to fish in your island’s rivers between 4pm and 9am to find a Mitten Crab. Look for a small shadow, then cast your line in front of it and wait for the bait to be pulled under the water before you pull. The Mitten Crab isn’t too rare, so as long as you know where to look, it won’t be long before you catch one.

Once you have a Mitten Crab, we obviously recommend giving the first to Blathers’ museum, but after that you’ll want to sell it to Timmy and Tommy at Nook’s Cranny, or to C.J. when he visits. The Mitten Crab price is 2,000 bells by default, but if you choose to sell to C.J. then you’ll earn an extra grand, bringing it up to 3,000 bells.

That’s all you need to know to get Mitten Crabs in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. They’re a cool new addition to the island, so have fun catching them. Thanks to the Mitten Crab price being pretty high, they’re even good for lifting your bell balance too! For more Animal Crossing: New Horizons content, click here to visit the game’s hub page.
