In Microsoft Flight Simulator you can fly just about anywhere in the world thanks to the games incorporation of Bing Maps. Before you go on adventures over the Bermuda Triangle or visit the pyramids of Egypt, you may want to do something a little simpler and visit your house. Fortunately, doing this is easier than you might think!
How to fly over your house in Microsoft Flight Simulator
If you’re someone who enjoys playing around on Google Maps and exploring areas using Street View, you’re probably someone who’s going to enjoy flying over specific locations in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Whether you want to fly over your house and check out the neighborhood from the sky, or you want to visit a city you’ve never been to before like Las Vegas, you can go just about anywhere you want to go in Microsoft Flight Simulator.
So, how do you fly over your house (or custom location) in Microsoft Flight Simulator?
Well, the easiest way is to get the exact coordinates to your home using latitude and longitude. If you go on Google Maps and search up the address of your home, you’ll be able to find the coordinates by right-clicking on the location and then selecting “What’s here?” to see the coordinates.
In the image above, we circle where you can find the coordinates of your home, or a custom location like the Winchester Mystery House, using Google Maps. If you click on these smaller coordinates you can make them pop up larger in the menu on your left.
The large coordinates in bold are what you’re going to need to use in Microsoft Flight Simulator. For example, the coordinates to the Winchester Mystery House are “37°19'06.7"N 121°57'03.9"W”
With the coordinates of the location you want to fly over found, open the World Map / Free Flight mode in Microsoft Flight Simulator and in the search area, enter in the coordinates. Next, select the pinned location that pops up and set that as your point of arrival (not departure).
By following those steps, you should spawn into the world in the exact area you want to explore whether that’s your house, a unique location, the home where you grew up, etc.
There are other ways to fly over your home in Microsoft Flight Simulator such as departing from a nearby airport and flying towards your home but this will take you way more time than simply inputting the exact coordinates.
With the coordinates, there’s no confusion as to where your home (or custom destination) is in relation to where you’re flying. By entering the coordinates in World Map / Free Flight mode and setting them as your point of arrival, you’ll instantly spawn there.
