How to get or change liveries in Microsoft Flight Simulator

Liveries let you change the look of your aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Modern day games are all about skins, and Flight Simulator is no different with its liveries - though right now the options available are slim. Microsoft Flight Simulator’s liveries allow you to change the look of your aircraft by sticking some new paint or decals on the outside. In this guide we’ll explain how to change liveries in Microsoft Flight Simulator, as well as how to get more liveries when they become available.

To change Liveries in Microsoft Flight Simulator just open your plane loadout from the Hangar or the pre-flight plane options.

To change liveries in Microsoft Flight Simulator, you need to head to the Hangar, which is accessed from the Profile part of the main menu. Open up the Hangar and you can look at the various planes you’ve unlocked so far. Apart from admiring their beauty, the bottom of the screen will note that you can open up the liveries menu by hitting F12 (or the prompted button/key). If you have any, you can then use this menu to change liveries in Microsoft Flight Simulator. The game should remember this option for the next time you play.

It’s also possible to change liveries when you’re on the World Map screen, planning your flight plan. As you select your aircraft, you’ll be able to adjust several options including ATC Options, Weight & Balance, and yes, liveries too.

How to get liveries in Microsoft Flight Simulator
There aren't any Liveries in the Flight Simulator store right now, but there should be a free pack soon.

The unfortunate news is that, at the time of writing, there aren’t many other Liveries available in Microsoft Flight Simulator. The only option which has been made available so far is the Aviator’s Club livery set. This pack was meant to be available from August 19 to September 30 as a thanks for early adopters, but appears to have been delayed in arriving in the store. This set includes Microsoft Flight Simulator themed liveries for all the standard aircraft.

To get liveries in Microsoft Flight Simulator, you want to open up the in-game Marketplace. This is available from the main menu. Look through the Official Content for the free liveries pack, and purchase it. According to Microsoft, third-party Liveries will also be made available, but it’s not yet clear if they’ll need to be purchased in-game or through external websites. Other liveries will likely cost money to access.

That’s all we can say so far about how to get or change liveries in Microsoft Flight Simulator. There aren’t many skins available just yet, but we’ve no doubt plenty of official airlines will want to sell their likenesses before long.
