How to fast travel in Mortal Shell

It takes some time, but you can unlock fast travel in Mortal Shell to help you get around Fallgrim with ease.

Mortal Shell’s map is a bit of a mess. The hub world of Fallgrim, in particular, is a chore to navigate, filled with identical sludgy corridors between foliage. You’ll eventually figure your way around, but most players will be looking for a fast travel option as soon as possible. It is possible to fast travel in Mortal Shell, but the bad news is that you won’t get access to it for quite some time. Below, we’ll explain how to fast travel in Mortal Shell, so you can get zipping around as quickly as possible.

To unlock fast travel in Mortal Shell, you must fully upgrade any one of the four Shells in the game. Once you do that, you’ll unlock the Ornate Mask for purchase from Sester Genessa when using that Shell. This means you need to purchase all of the abilities offered at Sister Genessa for one of your four shells. It'll cost you a whopping 30 Glimpses, so be prepared to save up.

It costs a lot of Tar and Glimpses to earn all these upgrades, so we recommend spending everything you can on one single shell (click here to read up on the best shell in the game), rather than spreading your points out. It’s worth doing this until you’ve maxed one out just so that you can unlock the Ornate Mask as quickly as possible.

Once you have it, the Ornate Mask can be used to fast travel between Sester Genessa locations. Use the item and you’ll open a menu which lets you pick any of the Sester Genessa locations you’ve activated already. By the time you unlock it, there’s a good chance you’ll already know your way around the levels, but it still makes moving back and forth between zones a much less time-consuming task, especially if you want to swap between weapons or find different Merchants.

That’s all you need to know about how to fast travel in Mortal Shell, but if you’re after further tips and tricks then be sure to visit our game hub page where we’ve got all sorts of guides including tips on how to parry.
