You can play Remnant: From the Ashes with up to two friends (for a party size of three) as a co-op adventure, though it works very well solo as well. If you want to join or invite your friends, you’ll first need to complete the tutorial mission. This sees you battling through Ward 13, switching on a reactor, and finally ends as you interact with a crystal.

Once you’ve completed the tutorial, you can invite friends any time you want using your platforms standard method. So for PC players, that’ll be your Epic Games Store (Shift + F3 is how you open the overlay) or Steam friends list (Shift + Tab). If you’re Xbox, use your Xbox Live friends, and for PlayStation, you can invite players through PSN.It’s very straightforward to play with friends in Remnant: From the Ashes, but you do need to beat that tutorial first. Thankfully, it should only take you about half an hour as you fight through to that crystal.

So long as you made your world open to friends when you hosted it, you can invite or join friends no matter where they are in the world, but they may be stuck spectating until you rest at a crystal. If your friends are stuck watching you, just head back to a crystal and get them involved. It’s worth noting that choosing to play in co-op will increase the difficulty of most enemies in the game, but also generate better loot and make you stronger when near your friends.

So if you want to join or invite your friends in Remnant: From the Ashes, all you need to do is make sure all of you have beaten the tutorial. For more Remnant: From the Ashes guides, click here to visit the game’s hub page.
