Online multiplayer is free on Xbox One this weekend with free games to boot

Xbox's Big Gaming Weekend gives everyone free access to multiplayer, as well as 10 games like Gears 5 and Modern Warfare.

Microsoft are giving all Xbox One gamers access to free online multiplayer for the next four days, regardless of whether they have an Xbox Live Gold subscription or not.

The Big Gaming Weekend, from August 6 to August 10, is part of Xbox's Summer Mode, giving gamers more to do on the platform through the quiet, humid months of the year. Free online multiplayer means everyone can play games like Fortnite without signing up for Xbox Live Gold, but there are even more games to play even if you didn't own them before.

On top of six Xbox Game Pass games, Microsoft are giving access to another four titles, some with multiplayer and others just good old fashioned summery adventures.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer, Gears 5, Black Desert, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Monster Hunter World, Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited, Borderlands 3, Subnautica, Naruto to Boruto: Shinobi Striker, and Ark: Survival Evolved are all free to play this weekend on Xbox One. Ark, Subnautica and Gears 5 are also available on Windows PC.

As some of the games (cough COD cough) are extremely large, to be ready to play when the paywalls come down later today you can begin downloading these games to your console or PC now. Just head to the Big Gaming Weekend page and log into your Xbox account to get started and choose your weekend adventure.

Are you excited to play online for free this weekend on Xbox One? Which games will you be trying out for the next four days with your friends?
