Learn how to craft both the Pebblet and Level 2 Axes in Grounded.

In Grounded, getting an Axe is a crucial early game task. While it sounds menacing, this tool is mostly used to chop grass and clovers to harvest resources. There are several types of axe you can craft over the course of the game, but the beginning one is a Pebblet Axe. To help you survive in the shrunken world, we’ve put together a quick guide on how to get an axe in Grounded, and then how to get the Level 2 Axe once you’re up and running.

The first axe type you’ll be able to create in Grounded is the Pebblet Axe. To do this, you need to look around on the floor for a Pebblets and Sprigs, as well as obtaining Woven Fiber. Here’s the amount of each required to craft an axe in Grounded:

  • Sprig x 3
  • Pebblet x 2
  • Woven Fiber x 1

Pebblets and Springs can be found just about anywhere in the starting zone, just look for small rocks and little shoots of grass that haven’t grown high. Once you have a miniature rock, take it to a Field Station science lab and use the Resource Analyzer on it. This will unlock the Pebblet Axe recipe. You’ll note that you also need Woven Fiber. For this, you need to collect Plant Fiber from the ground. This should be found pretty commonly as well, usually next to tall sections of grass. If you collect these then analyze them, you’ll unlock the Woven Fiber recipe.

Once you have the necessary recipes, all you need to do is swap to your crafting menu, make the Woven Fiber you need, then craft the Pebblet Axe. Congrats, you might just survive this wilderness now!

To recap here are the steps to craft an axe:

  • Collect Sprigs, Pebblets and Plant Fiber.
  • Analyze the items.
  • Craft Woven Fiber, then the Pebblet Axe.

The Level 2 Axe is called the Insect Axe, and is much more durable than the basic Pebblet Axe. To get a Level 2 Axe in Grounded you’re going to need to take on a Ladybug. You should be able to hear these larger creatures from a good distance. You may need to upgrade your armor, but once you kill a Ladybug, you can loot it’s body for a chance of obtaining a Ladybug Head. Take this to the Science Lab and use the Resource Analyzer on it to unlock the upgraded Level 2 Axe recipe.

To craft the Insect Axe, you need to obtain the following items:

  • Ladybug Head x 1
  • Bombardier Part x 3
  • Spider Silk x 4

As you’ll have already discovered, the Ladybug Head is obtained by killing a Ladybug. Bombardier Parts can be gained from Bombardier Beetles (there should be plenty near the starting area), while Spider Silk can be grabbed from Spiderlings. Collect all the parts can you can upgrade to get the Insect Axe in Grounded, simple as that.

Hopefully this guide has helped you learn how to get an Axe in Grounded, as well as upgrade it to the Level 2 Insect Axe. We’ll have more guides for the game on the way soon, so be sure to check out the game hub for more content.
