One of the first things you’re going to want to learn how to do when you start playing Ghost of Tsushima is save the game. In the game, you’re unable to skip cutscenes and dialogue, meaning if you close the game or it crashes before you save you could wind up having to go back and make up for that lost time. It can be a huge pain.

To avoid this frustration, there’s an option to manually save in Ghost of Tsushima. To manually save, you’ll need to press Options on your controller, tab over to the Options menu at the far right, look for “Save Game” towards the bottom, and use it to save your progress.

You can do this whenever you feel it’s necessary, though it’s worth noting it isn’t always necessary as Ghost of Tsushima also has a reliable auto-save feature. As you play, the game will regularly save your progress for you, and there are a number of things you can do to trigger the game’s auto-save.

Whenever you fast travel, complete a mission, finish watching a story cutscene, and more, Ghost of Tsushima will auto-save your progress. It’s nice to know that even if you forget to manually save, your progress should be safely stored for you, allowing you to jump back in and pick up where you left off.

Of course, if closing the game without knowing 100% that it’s saved gives you anxiety, it’s also nice to have that manual save option available.
