To get Ruinous Effigy in Destiny 2 you need to complete the Growth quest. Pick it up from the Prismatic Recaster and you’ll need to finish the following steps:
- Complete the Interference mission by beating the Means to an End weekly quest.
- Collect 25 Calcified Light and beat 15 Savathun’s Marionettes.
- Take part in Gambit or Reckoning matches, get precision multikills and Void kills.
- Use the Umbral Decoder.
Growth: Gift
The first stage of the quest simply involved completing the Means to an End weekly quest. You’ll need to play through that until the Interference mission opens up on Io. Beat that and you’re ready to move on.
Growth: Pendulum
Next up on the patch to get Ruinous Effigy is collecting 25 Calcified Light and beating 15 Savathun’s Marionettes. The trick here is to remember that bringing up your Ghost will show you the location of the Calcified Light on your HUD. We’ve listed the general locations below, so head to them then bring up your Ghost to find the exact location.
There are 10 to be found on Io: Four in Giant’s Scar, four in The Rupture, two in Lost Oasis. You’ll find 5 on Mars: Two in Glacial Drift, two in Braytech Futurescape and one in the Core Terminus Lost Sector. Next is Titan, which holds 5: Two in Siren’s Watch and three in The Rig. Finally, Mercury has 5 Calcified Light, all in The Lighthouse. This next stage of your journey to get Ruinous Effigy in Destiny 2 asks you to finish Gambit or Reckoning games, defeat targets with Void Damage, and score precision multikills. It’s pretty straightforward, but you can take on High-tier Reckoning challenges or defeat invaders/kill Guardians while invading in Gambit for more progress.

Finally, all you need to do is return to the Drifter and use the Umbral Decoder to decrypt the reward. Congratulations, you’ve unlocked the Ruinous Effigy Exotic Trace Rifle and can move on to taking out those Savathun’s Eyes.
